🎙️EP 348 You Don't Have to Build It Alone!
(Solo episode w/ Ildiko Ferenczi)
ENTREPRENEUR PARENTS PODCAST BECOMING UNSHAKABLE: MOMS SUPPORTING MOMS — EPISODE SIX Hosted by Dan Caldwell and Ildiko Ferenczi
What Happens When Women Bring Their Gifts Together?
What if the part of your vision that keeps exhausting you was never supposed to be your part?
In Episode Six of Becoming Unshakable: Moms Supporting Moms, we're talking about something every entrepreneur, mother, and woman building a meaningful life needs to understand: you do not have to build everything alone.
There is a difference between independence and isolation. You can be capable, ambitious, hardworking, and deeply committed to your calling while still recognizing that another woman may carry a gift that complements yours.
One woman may see the vision while another sees the structure. One may know how to tell the story while another knows how to organize the system. One may generate ideas while another knows how to turn those ideas into something practical.
That is not weakness. That is collaboration.
🤝 A DIFFERENT WAY TO THINK ABOUT COLLABORATION
You do not need to find someone exactly like you. In fact, some of the most meaningful collaborations happen when two people bring different strengths to the same vision.
Instead of asking, "Why doesn't she think like me?" try asking, "What can she see that I cannot?"
That question can change the way you approach business, friendship, motherhood, leadership, and community.
📖 FAITH & LEADERSHIP
Romans 12:6 reminds us: "We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us."
Our differences do not have to divide us. They can become part of what makes collaboration powerful.
Ecclesiastes 4:9 also reminds us: "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor."
You were not created to possess every gift.
You were created with gifts.
And sometimes the work becomes more beautiful when those gifts are brought together.
👑 THIS WEEK'S LEGACY MOVE
Think of one woman whose gifts genuinely complement yours. Tell her specifically what you admire about what she does, then make one small invitation not a giant business proposal or a commitment to build an entire company together, but simply a conversation.
Ask what might become possible if you both brought your strengths into the same room.
Because sometimes the next step in your calling is not learning how to do more.
Sometimes it is recognizing who you were meant to build beside.
✍️ JOURNAL MOMENT
Ask yourself: What part of my vision becomes lighter when I imagine building it with the right person? What do I naturally do that could strengthen another woman's work, and what part of building continually drains or delays me?
Who is the woman whose gift have I noticed? Is there someone whose strengths complement mine rather than simply mirror them, and what is one small project we could try together before attempting something larger?
👩👧👦 FOR MOTHERS BUILDING SOMETHING MEANINGFUL
Motherhood and entrepreneurship can sometimes make us feel as though we have to carry everything the business, the children, the home, the vision, the emotional labor, and the logistics.
But building a meaningful life does not require you to prove that you can carry every piece. There is wisdom in knowing what belongs to you and recognizing what someone else may be uniquely equipped to carry.
Healthy collaboration can create more than efficiency. It can create encouragement, shared courage, creative energy, and community.
And it gives our children a model of leadership they can actually see.
When our children watch us ask for help, listen to another person's perspective, share recognition, give credit, and celebrate someone else's strengths, they learn that leadership is not about controlling everything.
It is about knowing how to bring people and gifts together.
❤️ FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT
You do not have to prove that you can carry everything alone.
The goal was never to become a woman who needs no one. The goal is to become a woman secure enough to recognize the gifts God placed in other people and wise enough to know when those gifts belong beside yours.
Maybe you see the story and she sees the structure. Maybe you carry the vision and she knows how to bring it to life.
Maybe you have been asking God for the next step when the next step is sitting across the table from you in another woman.
Do not compete with what you could celebrate.
Do not diminish what you could learn from. And do not assume that asking for help makes your calling smaller.
Sometimes collaboration is how the calling becomes bigger.
Bring your gift. Let her bring hers. And see what God can build between them.
You do not have to build it alone.
Maybe you were never supposed to.
Faith. Family. Purpose. Legacy.

[00:00:00] Imagine this with me for a moment. A mother, just like any one of us, the idea that she had, had been living inside her for almost two years. She had written in notebooks, talked about it with her husband, prayed over it, even imagined what it might become.
[00:00:25] But every time she tried to move forward, she reached the same place and stopped. She knew what she wanted to create. She knew exactly. She could see it, she could feel it, she could smell it. She could see who she wanted to help. She could see the heart of it. She just could not figure out how to build the rest.
[00:00:54] One afternoon, another mother sat across from her at the kitchen table. There were crayons on the floor. Someone was asking for a snack, asking for kisses. The warm, hot cocoa that they were drinking had already gone cold.
[00:01:16] And somewhere in the middle of that very ordinary afternoon, she finally shared the idea. She expected encouragement, maybe a few kind words. Instead, the other woman leaned forward and said,
[00:01:37] I know how to do that part. The first mother stopped. What do you mean? I mean, I know how to do that part. The part that keeps overwhelming you. I love doing that part. It makes sense to me.
[00:01:55] Then she opened the notebook and began showing her. The problem that had made one woman question whether she was capable was the very kind of problem. The other mother, the other woman felt, felt created to solve. That was her blessing. That was her blessing, her calling. And as they talked, something else happened.
[00:02:22] The second woman shared an idea she'd been struggling to communicate. And the first mother smiled. I know exactly how to tell that story. The one woman had structure. She had the structure. All of it. And the other woman had the words. One could see the system. The other could see the soul. Neither woman was failing.
[00:02:53] Neither woman was missing what it took. They simply had been trying to carry alone what might have been designed to come alive through collaboration. Sometimes the person God sends is not there only to applaud what you've built or encourage.
[00:03:18] Sometimes she's there to help you build what you could never have carried alone. Get ready for another incredible conversation. Get comfortable. Grab your snacks. Grab the people you love. And let's get into it. That's better, right, babe?
[00:03:50] She founded an architectural concrete company. He founded a hundred million dollar clothing company. She took the world by storm as a social media star. He took the world by storm as a famous serial entrepreneur. Together we started a business. And had babies. Now we're figuring out the best ways to do both. Join us as we learn from other entrepreneurs going through the same life struggles. As they share their life hacks about success, love, kids. And everything in between.
[00:04:20] Hello, my friends. And welcome back to Becoming Unshakeable, the series brought to you by the Entrepreneur Parent Podcast. This is episode six of Moms Supporting Moms. I think we only have a couple left. And don't worry, we will be talking more about moms supporting moms in the future. It's just we really wanted to just focus on the moms for a moment.
[00:04:45] Moms supporting moms because I feel like when you step into this journey, it's good to know that we're not competing against each other. Or copying one another or pretending that we could do everything ourselves. And when we get together with a great circle of mothers, amazing things can happen.
[00:05:15] And today we are talking about the joy and power of women collaborating well. And this is such a gift. This is such a gift in our community. So I'm really excited to do a few more episodes for the moms because the beautiful part.
[00:05:35] Listen, it is so beautiful actually bringing different gifts together and discovering what becomes possible when we stop treating independence as the highest form of strength. We don't forget about self-made.
[00:05:55] Even when we are building as a family and maybe someone is the head of that project or someone may say they're self-made and I did it myself. First of all, I think God was behind it. I mean, not that I think, I know. Let's just correct that. Scratch that.
[00:06:19] I know God is behind it and he is going to bring the people that are meant to build that. And then he's going to watch. How are you stewarding it, my child? This is what I believe. This is what I've seen over and over and over again. And I love it because we really realize who was there to build with us. Maybe it was our family.
[00:06:45] Maybe it's our family.
[00:07:15] So many times doing the different things that I set out to do. Create the idea, name it, explain it, design it, sell it, organize it, photograph it, understand the numbers, build the website, answer every message. And if one part doesn't come naturally, we begin questioning the entire calling. Maybe I'm not ready.
[00:07:45] Maybe another negative thought that comes in is perhaps I'm not capable. Maybe, maybe this is just not for me. A real entrepreneur would know how to do this. I don't. But why would possessing one gift automatically make you an expert in every skill required to share it with the world? It wouldn't.
[00:08:14] You may be wonderful at imagining what could exist and terrible at putting it into a spreadsheet. You may create remarkable product and freeze whenever you need to talk about it. You just can't figure out how to put it into words. There's nothing wrong with that. You may understand strategy, but need someone else to bring warmth and beauty to the message.
[00:08:41] And that doesn't make you incomplete. It makes you human. That's what it makes you. A great collaborator does not arrive to expose everything you can't do. She or he, whoever you're collaborating with, helps release you to do more of what you do exceptionally well.
[00:09:06] Healthy collaboration doesn't always begin with two women who are alike. Sometimes it begins with two women who see the world very differently. One may ask, what if? And the other may ask how? One generates 10 ideas before breakfast. The other recognizes which ones can actually work.
[00:09:35] One feels the emotion of the message. And the other knows how to organize it so people can understand it. That difference can create tension if both women are trying to prove their way is superior. But when they become curious about each other, it becomes strength.
[00:10:02] Instead of asking, why does she not think like me? Ask, what can she see that I can't? The woman who slows you down may be protecting something you missed. The details. The woman who moves quickly may be helping you stop overthinking. Right? Let's just move on. I think we got it.
[00:10:32] The right collaborator does not always make you more comfortable. But you know what it does? You know what she can do for you? She can make you feel more complete. The whole assignment feels more complete. You don't have to begin by creating an entire company together.
[00:11:01] Start with one project, one event, or just one little conversation. You can create one piece of content together. Something small enough that you can learn how each woman works without placing the whole dream at risk. Pay attention to the experience. How does she communicate?
[00:11:29] Does she do what she says she's going to do? Does she keep her word? Can both of you give and receive feedback comfortably? With love? In a way that makes you want to keep being around this person? Do you leave conversations feeling energized or perhaps confused?
[00:11:55] Are you able to disagree without the relationship becoming unsafe or stressful? Chemistry can make the first conversation exciting. Character. Character is what makes the 10th conversation productive.
[00:12:15] We need to start at a place that is not too risky, but just at a place where we can discover both, all of it. Get a feel for it. What would it be like to actually work with this person every single day? Don't you think many wonderful collaborations never begin because the invitation remains vague?
[00:12:45] It sounds like we should do something together sometime. It sounds kind, but it gives the other person nothing she can actually respond to. We need a clearer vision, a clear invitation. And that might sound like I have an idea for one conversation I think our audience would appreciate. Would you be open to exploring it with me?
[00:13:13] Or perhaps it sounds like this. You have a gift for organizing the part I keep struggling to build. I think my storytelling could strengthen what you are creating too. Could we sit down for an hour and see whether there's a way to help each other? You don't have to have a polished proposal. Don't feel intimidated.
[00:13:40] You need enough clarity for her to understand why you thought of her. Tell her what you admire. Explain what you're imagining. What you'd like to build. And give her room to consider it without pressure. No pressure. Just put the idea out there and see what happens. I feel like the best collaborations begin with mutual interest.
[00:14:11] It's just very natural. Once an idea becomes exciting, it is tempting to rush into creating. But one honest conversation can protect everything beautiful about the experience. Who's doing what? We need to be clear. How much time can each of us realistically give? Will money be involved?
[00:14:40] How? How will credit be shared? What does success look like for the both of us? It doesn't have to be a big boardroom meeting. It can happen over warm cocoa. Coffee, matcha, smoothie. It can feel warm and hopeful and human. Bring your fears.
[00:15:10] Bring your questions. That builds trust, honesty. It gives trust somewhere to stand. When both women understand that they are creating and how each one is valued, they can stop quietly wondering and begin building something great.
[00:15:38] There's something encouraging about working beside someone who understands the vision. You no longer have to explain why the idea matters every time you speak about it. She sees it too. She sends a message and says, I have another idea. You hear it and think, that is the piece I could not find.
[00:16:06] I couldn't figure that out. Thank you. The work becomes lighter, but it also becomes more alive, full of passion. Someone is there when the idea needs courage. Someone notices when you're carrying too much. She gets it. She can help. And guess what's fun?
[00:16:31] There's someone to celebrate the small breakthrough that would mean nothing to anyone outside the project. You have the privilege of becoming that person for her too. Collaboration is not only about being efficient. It's about that creative energy. We've all had that. That shared courage. We encourage each other.
[00:16:58] And it builds that confidence between us to build that thing that can change the world. The unexpected moment when someone adds her gift to yours and the vision becomes larger without losing its heart. We're focusing on what we're doing. We both know we're going to create something great and change lives.
[00:17:27] And I really want to make sure that I touch on this because it's important. A beautiful collaboration does not require one woman to disappear behind the other. Say her name. Acknowledge what she brought and make sure both women can recognize themselves inside the finished work.
[00:17:54] When an opportunity emerges from something you created together, discuss it together. Don't run off and do it on your own. Obviously. This is something, yes, you may have found, but discuss it together. Give them the option. Hey, do you want to be included in this article? They just hit me up. They asked me to do an article. Bring her name into it.
[00:18:23] When there is a win, celebrate together. When people compliment the part she created, tell them who created it. Give the credit. Credit does not divide success. It tells the truth about how success happened. That's what it shows. The strongest leaders are not afraid to say, I could not have built this version without her.
[00:18:53] That's important. That is character. Those are the people we want to surround ourselves with. And friends, our children are watching more than the finished project. They are watching how we treat the people who helped us create it. They hear us ask for opinions. They watch us receive correction. They notice whether we share recognition.
[00:19:21] Imagine what a child learns from watching two women with different gifts respect each other. They learn that leadership is not controlling every part. That asking for help isn't weakness. That another person's brilliance does not diminish their own. That's beautiful for our children to see.
[00:19:44] And that great ideas often grow when we become secure enough to let someone else touch them. To be a part of them. Those lessons may shape the way our children build friendships, businesses, marriages, and communities one day. It's so powerful. Listen to this.
[00:20:12] The letter of St. Paul to the Romans chapter 12 verse 6 says, We have different gifts according to the grace given to each of us. Different gifts given by grace. We were never meant to become copies of one another. We see people. They recreate the things they see. They recreate, recreate.
[00:20:42] But we have gifts of our own. We don't need to be copies. Your gift is not proof that someone else is lacking. Another woman's gift is not evidence that you are less capable. Because each gift carries purpose.
[00:21:05] And sometimes God places two women near each other because what he intends to build requires something from both of them. Don't ignore it. Right? Be open. Be open. Let go of that competition. The competition mindset. Set. If you have it. I don't think you do. I don't think you do.
[00:21:32] But I'm just saying, especially when we pray, release the wrong people from our lives and bring the right people into our lives. He will. The book of Ecclesiastes chapter 4 verse 9 reminds us two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. Not because their woman is incapable alone.
[00:22:00] Because together their labor can produce a return neither could have created in quite the same way. Let's put it that way. If you have a pen and a journal, let's write some stuff down. Remember, we're never judging. We're just writing. We're just writing from our heart. Letting it spill. Let's start.
[00:22:30] What part of my vision becomes lighter when I imagine building it with the right person? And perhaps this is with your husband or your family. So just be open to that. I know this is the mother supporting mothers episode. I am building with my family. You may be building with your family. And you could still answer these questions.
[00:22:55] Or even just imagine for a moment that you're building with someone, another mother. Just be open. Whatever. Answer however you want. And then ask yourself, what do I do naturally that could strengthen another woman's work? Another's work. What part of building continually drains or delays me? What hooks you up?
[00:23:25] What pulls you back? Whose gift have I noticed? Is there a woman whose strengths complement mine rather than simply mirror them? Think about that too. Maybe there's someone around you that you haven't even thought of.
[00:23:47] And what is one small project we could try together before attempting something larger? You got to test small. You got to try it out.
[00:24:10] It could start with a simple conversation with someone carrying the piece that you don't have yet. That's how it starts. For this week's legacy move that we could implement today, here's the special invitation. Tell a woman what you genuinely admire about her work.
[00:24:39] Share the small idea you believe could create value for both of you. Don't ask her to commit to something enormous. Just invite her to have one conversation. Perhaps the purpose of that conversation isn't to begin a partnership, but perhaps it's simply to discover what becomes possible
[00:25:06] when both of you bring each other's gifts into the same room. So think about that. That's something you can start today and see where it goes. Maybe you guys create the next big idea that changes the world. There was all this pressure about being self-made, wanting all the credit to be the only one in the spotlight.
[00:25:35] You don't have to receive an award for doing every part alone. Being exhausted. You hear a lot of people say, I worked. I worked. Went my fingers to the bone. Blood, sweat, and tears. Exhaustion is not proof that the dream or the calling belongs to you.
[00:25:59] And struggling with one part doesn't mean you misunderstood the calling. Just because you don't understand the numbers. Maybe you're creative and you don't understand the numbers. You don't know how to capture the beauty of the filming or the photography. Just because you don't understand every moving piece, it's okay.
[00:26:27] Perhaps you were never meant to carry every piece. Some people, maybe they can. I don't know. I still beg to debate that it's self-made. You have some kind of team. Perhaps there's a woman right now praying for an opportunity to use the very gift you keep wishing to use,
[00:26:57] to put into action. Perhaps she can see the structure and you can see the story. She knows how to gather people and you know how to make them feel something. And somewhere between what she carries and what you carry, there is something neither one of you has imagined yet.
[00:27:25] But just remember, you collaborate because you recognize strength. Because you respect another woman's gift. Because you believe the vision may become more useful or more beautiful or more complete when the right person is involved into it. You don't have to build it alone. And guess what?
[00:27:55] Maybe you were never supposed to. So let's come together in prayer. When two or more come together, that's the beautiful part. Heavenly Father, thank you for the different gifts you placed inside each of us. Forgive us for the times we believed strength meant doing everything alone. Give us discernment to recognize the right people
[00:28:23] and the wisdom to build relationships slowly. Show us where another woman's gift could strengthen what you entrusted to us. Show us where our gift could become an answer for her, for someone out there. And when we come into partnership, help us communicate clearly.
[00:28:47] Give credit freely and create with generous hearts for the calling that you've put on our hearts. Protect our collaborations from comparison, confusion, or any kind of pride. Teach us to listen, to celebrate each other when we do something great together.
[00:29:12] May the work we create together serve families, strengthen communities, and show our children that great leaders don't have to possess every single gift. Help us know how to recognize, respect, and bring gifts together in a way that serves you. We say this in Jesus' name. Amen.
[00:29:40] If a woman came to mind during this episode, send her a message. Tell her exactly what you see in her. Then offer one small, thoughtful idea that could create value for the both of you.
