What do you do when the launch is quiet, the opportunity falls through, the product doesn’t sell, or the business idea you believed in doesn’t work the way you hoped?
And what do you do when the woman you love is sitting in the middle of that disappointment wondering what went wrong?
You stay.
In Episode Seven of Becoming Unshakable: Moms Supporting Moms, we’re talking about one of the most overlooked parts of friendship, motherhood, marriage, entrepreneurship, and building a meaningful life: how to support someone after the dream does not go according to plan.
Supporting a mother is not only about celebrating her when she succeeds. Sometimes the deepest support happens after the announcement is over, the numbers are disappointing, the opportunity disappears, and she is left wondering whether she should begin again.
📖 FAITH WHEN THE NETS ARE EMPTY
In Luke 5:5, Simon says to Jesus, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
They had worked. They were tired. And they had nothing visible to show for it.
The Gospel does not pretend the empty nets were full, and faith does not mean pretending disappointment does not hurt. An empty net does not automatically mean the story is over.
Sometimes we cast again. Sometimes we change where we cast. Sometimes God redirects the method while preserving the deeper calling, and sometimes we discover that what we thought was the destination was actually part of the preparation.
✍️ JOURNAL MOMENT
Today’s reflection is for both the woman supporting someone else and the woman carrying disappointment herself.
Ask: What am I grieving? What did I believe this opportunity would change? What has this disappointment made me believe about myself? Is that belief actually true?
Then ask: What do I need in this season? What can I release without shame? What truth is this experience teaching me? And when I am ready, what is the next faithful step I can take?
Not the entire staircase.
Just the next faithful step.
👑 THIS WEEK’S LEGACY MOVE
Think of one mother who may be quietly carrying a disappointment.
Reach out without beginning with advice. Try asking, “I know this hasn’t unfolded the way you hoped. How are you really doing?”
Then ask, “Would you like me to listen, help you think, or simply sit with you?”
Sometimes support begins by allowing someone to tell the truth.
❤️ FINAL ENCOURAGEMENT
There will be days when supporting another woman feels exciting the announcement, the launch, the celebration, the beautiful photograph, the good news.
But there will also be quieter days: the unsold boxes, the unanswered messages, the rejection, the closed door, or the plan that reached its end.
Stay for those days too.
You do not have to convince her that everything will work out exactly as she imagined. You do not have to rescue the dream or know what comes next.
Sometimes the most powerful thing you can say is:
“You don’t have to figure this out tonight. I’m here.”
Perhaps she will rest. Perhaps she will change the plan. Perhaps she will begin again. Perhaps she will release the dream and discover something she could not see before.
Whatever comes next, remind her that she does not have to disappear until her life looks successful again.
She is still worthy in the middle of the unfinished story.
Maybe that is what becoming unshakable really looks like not never being disappointed, never failing, or always knowing what to do next, but learning that disappointment does not get the final word.
Sometimes faith looks like casting the net again. Sometimes wisdom looks like changing the plan. Sometimes courage looks like letting something go.
And sometimes strength looks like allowing someone you love to sit beside you in the silence until you are ready to take the next step.
You do not have to have the whole story figured out. You just have to be faithful with the next chapter.
