[00:02:59] We both went through the same

[00:03:01] Question to ourselves

[00:03:03] That we had to ask ourselves years ago when we quit our main jobs to go

[00:04:12] So don't forget the all the links are below in the show notes

[00:04:17] And thank you again. And let's get back to the show

[00:04:20] As I said, many of us have hidden talents and burning passions

[00:04:25] That we're pursuing alongside our regular jobs

[00:04:28] But then there comes the time

[00:04:30] There comes the point

[00:04:32] When it's time to put everything into that basket

[00:04:36] And the question is when is it time to make this

[00:04:40] Passion

[00:04:41] Your main focus

[00:04:43] That's what we're going to talk about today. Yeah, and I think everybody who and I said this before but everybody who has

[00:04:50] Has ever started a side hustle has come

[00:04:53] Against this question that they're asking themselves, you know, is it time now?

[00:04:57] Should I do it now? Is it I don't want to do it too soon because I'm afraid of you know

[00:05:01] When you're asking yourself that question a lot of the things that come to mind are, you know, who is this going to affect?

[00:05:08] right

[00:05:09] If I go quit my job

[00:05:12] And you know, who else are are reliant who else in my family are there other people in my family that are reliant

[00:05:18] Do I have a family?

[00:05:20] Do I have a family and kids do I have a house payment a car payment?

[00:05:23] You know, what is on the line here? That's right

[00:05:26] These are all things that you need to take into account. So when I jumped into my passion

[00:05:33] Um

[00:05:34] I was a solopreneur it was I didn't have children dependent on me if I

[00:05:41] Didn't make it. I knew that I would be okay

[00:05:46] so these are things things that you need to think about today, I think dan

[00:05:51] If we're making the decision

[00:05:53] We have to think long and hard because now we have a family at that point. I didn't I'd be okay

[00:06:00] Living off macaroni and cheese not that I had to but I knew

[00:06:04] That it would be okay. And I was also funding

[00:06:09] The architectural concrete company with my other job and my other job was paying me well

[00:06:16] And I knew

[00:06:18] That it would be okay, but then there came a time when those residential jobs

[00:06:23] turned into civil jobs and luxury homes and

[00:06:27] Commercial jobs and they were turning from

[00:06:31] You know 10,000 to 30,000

[00:06:34] that was the

[00:06:35] The residential and then all of a sudden it was hundreds of thousands

[00:06:41] of dollars and then when you're doing the commercial jobs

[00:06:45] It's a contract that lasts sometimes several years and to see those contracts signed

[00:06:52] Knowing that I was going to be on those contracts with my partner

[00:06:57] And my team it gave me that sense of security. Okay

[00:07:01] Now

[00:07:02] The next level or the next chapter of my life can begin. Yeah, and that's awesome. I mean if you can have a contract

[00:07:08] That's like I mean that becomes a no-brainer. You don't got to think too much at that point

[00:07:13] I mean other than the government falling apart or whoever you have the contract with

[00:07:17] but I mean, what about the people that

[00:07:19] You know are working full-time at their county job or whatever, you know, maybe their

[00:07:25] maintenance or whatever they're doing in their life and

[00:07:29] Or maybe they're a compute. Maybe they work for a computer programming company and they decide to start their own app

[00:07:33] You know at what point do you look at yourself and go? Okay?

[00:07:38] It's I I'm

[00:07:40] I'm doing this, but it's starting to take away

[00:07:44] You know, I know I could be doing so much more if I was just working at my side hustle putting 100%

[00:07:51] Into the side hustle, right? And I think that that's

[00:07:54] I think you're the one that has to make that decision and you're very

[00:07:59] Intuitive, I believe we all have an intuition

[00:08:01] We're blessed with an intuition where you know you see the momentum picking up in your business

[00:08:08] You see the demand and you start to really understand

[00:08:12] The roadmap that you're

[00:08:14] You're on and you understand the needs of your clients and you can see them coming in

[00:08:20] I feel that there's just this moment where it all clicks and it doesn't matter what business because I remember it happening

[00:08:27] In the jewelry store when I was a kid. I remember seeing it

[00:08:30] I remember just having the store filled with people

[00:08:34] But then there was also a time when it was a little bit nervous things were starting out. We didn't have as many customers

[00:08:41] I think I mean I know I can honestly with confidence say

[00:08:46] You will know when the time comes and you have to follow your your instinct with that

[00:08:52] And you have to think smart you have to think smart and you have to think ahead

[00:08:56] So if it's your first time and you're barely and you're struggling to get

[00:09:01] Customers or clients whatever your product or business is if you're struggling that is not the time

[00:09:06] But when you feel it picking up that momentum, you know, yeah

[00:09:11] Well, I think that's a big question is you got to know one of the questions you have to ask yourself is your side hustle scalable

[00:09:17] You know, is it something that?

[00:09:19] If you put more time into it more effort or whatever, you know

[00:09:23] Quitting your job will do

[00:09:25] If you do that

[00:09:27] Is is there an opportunity to scale it? Right? Then you fall back into the answer that

[00:09:33] if I

[00:09:35] Now I know if it's scalable and more time if I put more time into it

[00:09:38] I can scale my business more

[00:09:40] Then you you've answered the question for yourself

[00:09:42] If you're to the point where you're making enough money that you can pay your bills

[00:09:46] I think that's that's the main question is

[00:09:49] Can I am I right now making enough money in my side hustle to be able to cover the minimum that minimum

[00:09:57] Dollar amount that you need

[00:09:59] To cover your expenses at home. Can I pay my house?

[00:10:03] opportunity to bring more in is there other

[00:10:06] Areas that you haven't explored yet that will bring in that financial freedom

[00:10:11] That's another very important thing because you can't just we all have something that we love and would love to do

[00:10:17] And I sadly, you know, we we have a lot of people come to us

[00:10:22] to invest in their businesses

[00:10:24] and

[00:10:25] Sadly sometimes it's it's just a passion and it's just a thing that they love but

[00:10:31] I don't I don't understand how sometimes people can't see that this isn't going to

[00:10:37] Give them the financial freedom that they're looking for but they're so in love with this business or this idea

[00:10:44] But it's not going to

[00:10:47] Pan out. It's not yeah. Yeah, I know and those are and that happens to the best of us

[00:10:51] You know, I mean it's it's happened to me a couple times when I've invested in companies and

[00:10:57] You know had to look back and go okay. Well, there goes a half a million dollars

[00:11:02] But it's you know, you so it happens it can happen to anybody

[00:11:07] But you have to you know, I did tell you I said it's not going to work out with these people and that thing's not

[00:11:12] Going to work out. Do you know in 2021?

[00:11:15] There were the largest number

[00:11:17] Largest growth of millionaires

[00:11:21] Stop okay, stop it. Okay. Look you told me you weren't gonna like

[00:11:26] Throw this in my face anymore. So stop

[00:11:31] Stop laughing

[00:11:34] Listen, okay, okay

[00:11:37] You know in 2021 we had an increase of two over 2.5

[00:11:42] million

[00:11:44] millionaires

[00:11:45] In the united states. We only have like 22

[00:11:50] million millionaires right now anyway

[00:11:53] And we increased 22 millionaires by or 20 millionaires at that time probably by 2.2

[00:12:00] 5 2.5 million

[00:12:03] people

[00:12:04] I mean, that's incredible and that was the pandemic right 2021. That was the pandemic

[00:12:09] We I mean what people would call a downturn or you know, obviously some chaos going on in the world

[00:12:15] We had more millionaires probably than any other time in history

[00:12:19] And especially the mom per nore well the mom influencers that really blew up during that time. Oh, yeah

[00:12:26] I saw some statistic a while back. Um, I think uh, they took it in in it

[00:12:31] We're probably around the same time 2020 or something like that

[00:12:34] 33 percent of the millionaires in the united states are female

[00:12:38] Right and that's a pretty incredible number. I think if you asked normal people like

[00:12:43] Most people would not come up with that percentage like if you they probably say like, uh, you know, how many of the millionaires in the world

[00:12:49] There's 22 point or in the united states 22.5 percent

[00:12:53] um

[00:12:54] uh or 22

[00:12:57] million millionaires

[00:12:59] I got that out are

[00:13:01] Are in the united states

[00:13:03] Um, how many of those do you think are women? What percentage of that do you think are women?

[00:13:07] I think a lot of people would keep that number somewhere in the like 5 to 10 percent

[00:13:13] Well, I mean, I guess I was a little bit surprised. I remember my agents and I remember

[00:13:20] A lot of the influence

[00:13:22] uh

[00:13:24] What is it like the

[00:13:26] The community of influencers

[00:13:28] I remember them saying if you ever become a mom

[00:13:33] It's over like it's done those days are done

[00:13:36] I remember being a little bit nervous and that's why I hid my that was honestly

[00:13:42] And sadly that was one of the reasons I hid my pregnancy. I remember hosting the Super Bowl

[00:13:49] Um, what was it in San Francisco? Yeah when you're in San Francisco, right?

[00:13:54] I wore a baby doll dress because my legs were thin. I wore my high heels. Nobody

[00:13:59] Pregnant is all

[00:14:00] I was a couple weeks away from having a baby and nobody knew

[00:14:05] Um, so when I was about a month a month out a month out maybe maybe maybe three weeks

[00:14:12] We really came back to the u.s for that. Yeah, and I yeah

[00:14:15] So we went back home to canada

[00:14:17] To have the baby

[00:14:18] But I remember hugging people on the red carpet and just really pulling out

[00:14:23] My babies so nobody felt it but a couple people did and I gave them

[00:14:28] It was just this this connection like shush

[00:14:32] And they gave me like the congratulations

[00:14:35] It was all the communication was in the eyes

[00:14:38] but it was just such a sad time because

[00:14:41] Everybody said if you have a baby, it's over. It's all over

[00:14:45] But during the pandemic

[00:14:47] Because who is the one that's doing the shopping? It's the moms. It's the wives

[00:14:52] They're the ones doing the shopping and all the sudden

[00:14:57] The baby stuff blew up and the just everything to do with moms blew up

[00:15:04] Hardcore. Well, it's such a unique time in history that moms

[00:15:09] Um, we would just listen to that lady talk about her business who I don't remember her name

[00:15:15] But she you know, I mean her husband was a dentist a successful dentist

[00:15:20] And and she's doing this side hustle, right? And then all of a sudden it becomes the main hustle

[00:15:25] Right and that happens to so many influencers

[00:15:28] I think I'm gonna quit

[00:15:29] So my wife I can watch the kids and my wife can go full out in this business and support the whole family

[00:15:35] I mean that's I don't know if I could do it with that

[00:15:37] She's not going to work, but she's at home and he said

[00:15:41] My don't get me wrong. My business was so successful

[00:15:45] But it didn't give us our goal and

[00:15:49] And I didn't realize it at the time

[00:15:51] But when this opportunity came up and she was making more money than me it gave me freedom

[00:15:59] And um, well he said he was trading hours for dollars basically exactly

[00:16:04] So he would go to work and he'd be at work all day. He wouldn't be able to see his family

[00:16:08] This opportunity gave him the chance to both be there at the same time

[00:16:12] Right and if they wanted to go to disneyland the very next day they could but with his job

[00:16:18] He didn't have the freedom

[00:16:20] So that was something that they sat down talked about they had many conversations because this is a big deal

[00:16:26] And they they said that the family was calling him crazy

[00:16:31] She supported him as a nurse to become a dentist and then all of a sudden

[00:16:37] They think he's throwing it all away, but they're making millions and millions of dollars

[00:16:42] Yeah, I when me and charles started tap out

[00:16:45] Um, I remember at some point he was in this internal affairs investigation

[00:16:50] And I remember him coming to me in one day and going you know what I'm

[00:16:56] Quitting today and I said what do you what do you what do you mean? You're quitting we don't quit

[00:17:01] We're police officers. You know these are this tap out thing is our side hustle. He said no, I'm leaving

[00:17:06] I'm tired of this. This is I'm there after me

[00:17:10] They're they're you know, it's it's he just I can't deal with this anymore and

[00:17:15] He says I'm turning my batch today. I said you're crazy

[00:17:19] I mean, I'm his partner and I'm and I shouldn't be telling him this but I'm like, man

[00:17:23] What are you thinking? It was so hard getting our jobs and now you're going to go quit

[00:17:29] Yeah, and this is your like your dream job

[00:17:31] And uh, and he went in and quit that day and I'll never forget he came back to me that

[00:17:37] afternoon and I was working I was you know, I'm a police officer too

[00:17:42] And he came to me. He said you can't quit your job because you have to pay our bills for for now

[00:17:50] And I'm like what?

[00:17:52] Oh my gosh, what did we just do?

[00:17:55] But I was but I knew so I stayed on for another three years

[00:17:58] I think and until I got to the point where I saw us missing opportunities

[00:18:05] And we were making enough to just barely pay our own rents and pay our own bills

[00:18:10] And I would all we would do is literally write a check out of the business for our bills

[00:18:16] Like I would write his rent payment and I would write my rent paint when I quit

[00:18:21] I've been right my rent payment, which was about the same

[00:18:24] and um

[00:18:25] And then we give each other a little bit of extra cash

[00:18:29] And we have to we had to live off that

[00:18:31] And and that's when I knew I said I have to quit now because at that point three years later because we were missing opportunities

[00:18:39] There were things coming up like the opportunity to sell at this event that I couldn't make it to because I had to work

[00:18:46] Or I had to or I wanted to um

[00:18:49] Or we were going to ufc and we were going to be able to give out these clothes and these things and do these things

[00:18:55] That I couldn't do right still working at my job

[00:18:57] You were locked in so I knew it was time and I just had to you know

[00:19:01] It was time to make that leap and go look

[00:19:05] I know even though i'll be making less when I quit

[00:19:08] I'm still only going to be able to write that

[00:19:10] Barely write that check that same check where I'm going to be able to pay my rent and and like

[00:19:15] I want to say like 300 after that so it was like 300 plus paying our rent

[00:19:21] Which you can't live on

[00:19:23] But it was that leap that I know if I do this

[00:19:26] I'm gonna be I knew if I went to the if I flew to this event in hawaii and I sold our clothes there

[00:19:31] We'd probably make about $4,000

[00:19:34] Half of that would be cost of the clothes

[00:19:35] We'd end up with about $2,000 cost of the flights and and hotels another thousand

[00:19:40] So we walk away with a thousand bucks. That's that alone just that one thing is an extra 500 bucks each

[00:19:46] Right

[00:19:46] So that's what we have to do

[00:19:48] That's what we have to do and I know I would rather be doing that working on my business on my dream on this thing that we

[00:19:54] Were building then

[00:19:56] Then going to work what I felt like was not what I wanted to do anymore in life

[00:20:01] Right

[00:20:02] So it was time to make that leap and I think that's the question that anybody has to ask

[00:20:07] Can I just pay my bills? Can I pay my bills?

[00:20:11] And if I can do that

[00:20:13] Is it time to quit?

[00:20:16] I mean is it time

[00:20:18] to

[00:20:19] To make that decision that

[00:20:22] What I really love to do what I see is my purpose in life and my passion in life. Is it time to

[00:20:30] Quit this job that is maybe paying the bills right now that is supporting my family

[00:20:36] To go do this side hustle. Well, I think it is and that's the question

[00:20:40] I think you that's if you had to ask one question

[00:20:43] Well, probably two one who's at risk? What's at risk exactly your house your house payment your car payment

[00:20:50] Don't get into a new car payment at the time if you if you don't have to

[00:20:55] If you have a car, you know, try not to get more liabilities more payments on your more

[00:21:00] Liabilities that you're gonna have to you're gonna have to be responsible for exactly if you go quit your job

[00:21:06] and

[00:21:07] And then make that leap and one of the questions you can ask yourself

[00:21:10] I just I heard another story of another entrepreneur

[00:21:14] Maybe a year ago that

[00:21:16] he said

[00:21:18] That he was able to slowly

[00:21:20] remove a day

[00:21:22] One by one

[00:21:23] So he was working five days a week and then he went down to four days a week

[00:21:27] And then they let him go down to three days a week and then two and pretty soon

[00:21:31] He was working one day a week and then uh another

[00:21:35] What I want to say another um, he got a new manager and the manager came in said, what do you do here?

[00:21:41] You're the only employer that works one day a week. What do you even do here?

[00:21:45] And he said nothing

[00:21:47] Nothing, I don't do anything here

[00:21:49] I literally just show up because he's kind of the guy that like overlooks everybody else's jobs and make sure

[00:21:54] You know if they have a problem they come to him

[00:21:56] So he's so they both agreed that it was time for him to quit and uh, so

[00:22:01] It the decision was kind of made for him right but being able to take one day off at a time

[00:22:07] Probably or even some kind of leave like a trial period because you don't want it

[00:22:11] If you're not sure you don't want to you don't want to just quit

[00:22:17] You may be able to take a little bit of uh, like what is it a leave a holiday?

[00:22:23] Oh, yeah, you could take a leave. Yeah, you could take a leave. That's a good idea

[00:22:27] I mean if that's possible

[00:22:28] That's probably a great idea if you can take a leave

[00:22:32] And then that way if something wasn't to work out and I say, you know

[00:22:36] I'm one of those guys and I you are too

[00:22:39] We're burn the ships type of people

[00:22:41] You know in fact, I I own that com for a long time till I sold it

[00:22:45] I was a little less worried

[00:22:47] Because in construction

[00:22:49] It's a high ticket sale the only problem and I'm not saying we've never had that problem

[00:22:54] Was if the concrete doesn't get put down right

[00:22:57] And it's they're not happy with it and you have to rip it out

[00:23:01] Then that's gonna cost you money

[00:23:03] But if you have other contracts on top of that and they've given you the deposit you can cover that you obviously

[00:23:11] Don't want to pay for that because it's very expensive to replace concrete with the laborer and the concrete itself

[00:23:19] And obviously you want to have a good word of mouth name, but I'm not gonna lie

[00:23:24] It had happened to us a few times and that was

[00:23:27] Very scary, but knowing that you have these

[00:23:31] It's a big ticket sale. So you sleep a little more comfortably at night

[00:23:38] I think I'd be a little more nervous starting a t-shirt brand. I mean, what are you making really?

[00:23:44] Yeah, but but the difference is we have an online business. So we were like one of the first online companies and

[00:23:52] And see you know selling clothing for sure

[00:23:54] At that time nobody else was selling clothing online

[00:23:57] If you went to like Hurley's website or any of these other clothing companies websites, they directed you to stores

[00:24:03] They said oh go to this store that store nobody wanted to sell online because the stores actually wouldn't let them

[00:24:09] So we were selling online and I always thought it was weird

[00:24:12] We would come in and every day the same number would be it would be so close like we were making maybe

[00:24:18] I don't know a thousand bucks a day or two thousand bucks a day or something like that

[00:24:22] Three thousand bucks a day it started going up slowly right and but it was always the same number

[00:24:28] Not the exact same number, but it would be like

[00:24:31] 2700 and the next day would be

[00:24:33] 3200 and the next day would be

[00:24:36] 3100 it was like so weird. I remember asking the question to myself

[00:24:41] How why is it always close to the same number?

[00:24:43] But anyways, we're an online business and so we kind of knew at that time

[00:24:47] We were an online business we kind of knew what money to depend on right exactly exactly

[00:24:53] I think that was a comparison is we knew we knew the manpower we had and we knew what what we were capable of

[00:25:00] So we knew pretty much

[00:25:02] How much money was coming in per month unless there was a mistake?

[00:25:06] And and something else too that you can think about is it, you know, is there a possibility that you might be able to take alone?

[00:25:13] um

[00:25:14] I don't suggest doing it if you don't have to but if you really have a vision and you really see

[00:25:21] That there's an opportunity to grow your company this side hustle of yours

[00:25:25] There may be some place somebody who wants to give you money

[00:25:29] Family friends banks whatever that might be and also factoring. It's called factoring

[00:25:34] Um contracts

[00:25:36] So like somebody in the clothing business and it works in a bunch of different product based businesses

[00:25:41] If you get a sale from a place like let's say Whole Foods

[00:25:45] if you were selling food

[00:25:47] And they they give you a p.o for, you know

[00:25:52] $47,000 worth of product

[00:25:56] You can factor that

[00:25:59] contract with them the p.o with them

[00:26:01] and

[00:26:02] Get paid on that up front by a factoring company

[00:26:06] So they'll give you the $47,000 and in return or they'll give you less than that. They'll give you like

[00:26:14] $41,000 $3,000 $44,000 whatever the number is

[00:26:18] And they take the difference so when Whole Foods actually pays them

[00:26:22] They get the full $47,000 you get they you give them a percentage of that

[00:26:27] So things like that allow you to have that up front money

[00:26:30] So you're not actually carrying that money

[00:26:31] It allows you to be able to live and have the money you need to be able to support the business

[00:26:37] I just I didn't want to take any kind of loan. I just really wanted to bootstrap and do it myself

[00:26:42] And that's a good thing

[00:26:43] I mean, that's how I prefer to do it

[00:26:45] If you have the credit and you have a credit card

[00:26:48] You could probably bootstrap because the more

[00:26:53] They see that credit card getting paid off every month they extend and extend and extend

[00:26:58] So I got extended to a crazy

[00:27:00] No, but I mean, I think there's a moment when you really get really good credit without a shadow of a doubt

[00:27:06] You believe in your heart and mind that if I was here more

[00:27:11] I would make more money. Yeah, absolutely

[00:27:13] And and so that gives you the confidence to go look

[00:27:18] You can show your spouse if you need to you can go look

[00:27:21] Well, they're the ones that will probably notice. I remember that other influencer

[00:27:26] And it's crazy how a lot of these influencers have blown up, but they have other businesses behind it

[00:27:33] But he was really reluctant because he said I was gonna be the next Steve jobs

[00:27:38] That's how I saw myself and it was just hard for him to just accept the fact that he was going to

[00:27:45] Support his wife and be behind the scenes

[00:27:48] But you know, you just if you see it

[00:27:52] You'll know that there's an opportunity

[00:27:55] You'll know

[00:27:56] Yeah, and when what do you what's that conversation sound like with your wife because

[00:28:01] Imagine you have your business and your wife might be helping you in it too

[00:28:04] She might be a part of it

[00:28:05] But she might not know the the ins and outs of the business and actually what's you know, she might be contributing

[00:28:11] But right, you know, she might also be a housewife

[00:28:14] And so she's contributing but or vice versa, you know the other way around

[00:28:18] Right, right. Um, what's that conversation sound like when you go to them and you say look what

[00:28:23] I'm thinking about quit my job

[00:28:26] Well, I think you really have to put your goals and your visions on the table. That's the most important

[00:28:32] every successful entrepreneur

[00:28:35] That I know

[00:28:36] They don't keep their goals and their their

[00:28:40] Visions to themselves. This is this even if it's

[00:28:44] The husband's business or the wife's business. They really need to communicate

[00:28:50] On their

[00:28:51] Joint goals and visions for the family. Is it freedom that they want? Is it, you know, are they okay with

[00:28:58] Not taking a holiday

[00:29:00] Are they okay with one of their spouses just sitting in this business that they're

[00:29:06] For example, the dentist, are you okay with that life that we can't just get up and go if we want to

[00:29:11] You have less freedom. You're making pretty good money, but you have less freedom

[00:29:16] But you have stability

[00:29:17] But you have stability, right exactly

[00:29:20] So those are all questions and those are all the conversations that you really need to have with your spouse

[00:29:27] And you have to make sure you're both on the same same page because otherwise that's where the resentment sets in

[00:29:33] That's where the the hurt sets in because the truth is

[00:29:38] Every wife and and usually it's the wife pulling

[00:29:42] And supporting the husband's vision. I know I I did that for a while with you and

[00:29:50] And I really

[00:29:52] Was supporting you but it was it was hard and when we didn't have the communication

[00:29:58] I think we should have had the talk before like if this doesn't go well

[00:30:02] I think we just thought everything was gonna go well and there was yeah, I think that's a problem

[00:30:07] I mean you're on this shared journey together that was kind of early in our

[00:30:11] And I think what I didn't realize is that I was still out

[00:30:15] I was still feeling like everything rested on my shoulders

[00:30:20] And so I didn't I think I felt like I didn't need to have that conversation when

[00:30:26] If you're gonna have and we weren't married at the time either

[00:30:29] Oh, I was talking about last the last one

[00:30:33] So, you know, I mean at this time, I just think that that's so important

[00:30:39] To have that conversation with your wife because you're on this journey

[00:30:43] She's given up. She's given up her career. She's given up her identity. She's given up her life

[00:30:48] And it's just and are we gonna have the free? We didn't have the freedom

[00:30:54] And I was I honestly

[00:30:56] I felt like a married single mom and it wasn't what we had we had a lot of freedom

[00:31:04] Um in our lives when before we got married. I mean, I'm not

[00:31:08] So frustrated about that time of our lives because we're trying to we were both trying to figure stuff out

[00:31:14] And then there came the conversation when it's when we sat down and said listen, you're doing your own thing

[00:31:20] I'm doing my own thing and we're kind of going in different directions and I feel like

[00:31:26] If it keeps going this way, how are we gonna grow together as a couple?

[00:31:31] Why don't we do something together and you had invested in a couple things that were really

[00:31:37] Pulling you away from the relationship. Yeah, they were like startups. I was having to put a lot of time into them

[00:31:42] So that was the frustration and I said what, you know, we're both really we're both or you said we're both really smart

[00:31:49] And we've done this before why don't we build something together?

[00:31:51] And then we were looking for that thing and we started a few things but right now

[00:31:55] We're in a different part of our life, but some exciting opportunity came up

[00:32:00] But we didn't have a deep conversation of what it could look like. We kind of assumed

[00:32:06] Everything this guy told us was bible

[00:32:09] But his company was falling apart and then that took so much of you away from the kids

[00:32:17] And we started growing apart and it was just not the vision that

[00:32:23] It wasn't something you needed to do at this point of your life. You're not you're not what is it?

[00:32:27] You're not a beginner. Yeah, you're already like a startup again. No, that's not the life

[00:32:33] That's not I think that's what's it really

[00:32:35] I mean the core of it for anybody who's listening that when you're

[00:32:40] About to when you're thinking about when that that thought starts creeping into your mind

[00:32:45] That it's time to have that conversation with your spouse

[00:32:49] That

[00:32:50] You know

[00:32:52] Do I at this point?

[00:32:54] Am I

[00:32:55] Am I am am I mentally fit to quit my job and go?

[00:33:00] Do this side hustle and make it my main hustle where

[00:33:04] Everything is going to rest on our shoulders now like where there's no guarantee of money coming in anymore

[00:33:10] You know, what are the things that can happen?

[00:33:12] What are the things that can come out of left field that can because if we don't have money coming in that month

[00:33:17] And I can't make the house payment where you could be on streets. That's the truth

[00:33:22] So, you know, do you have a savings set aside? Do you have some runway?

[00:33:27] That's important

[00:33:28] You don't have money coming in one month

[00:33:32] And if you don't because I didn't I had a credit card and I thought I could use my credit card

[00:33:37] If um, if I had to for maybe two months it'd probably get me by for about two months

[00:33:43] I think it was enough to get me by for about two months

[00:33:45] But if I if we go beyond that I'm on the streets. Yeah, and but I I was so

[00:33:52] I felt so strongly

[00:33:54] That we were could grow by putting more time into the business

[00:33:59] That I just threw all caution to the wind at that point

[00:34:01] I knew that if I was in there more we would make more money

[00:34:06] And it might not be a lot of more money

[00:34:08] But I saw there was a projection of growth because we were doing year after year. We were growing 300 percent in revenue

[00:34:18] And that was for those first few years. I mean, it wasn't a lot

[00:34:21] It was like we were making 30 000 our first year

[00:34:24] 100 000 our second year and 300 000 our third year and that's a year I quit

[00:34:29] Um, it wasn't a lot but at the end of the day

[00:34:32] I saw where the business was going and I thought it's time to quit and pray about it too. I know

[00:34:38] Maybe you believe in that maybe you don't but I believe

[00:34:43] I believe in the power of prayer

[00:34:45] And the answers will come I watched my mom do it when she started her new businesses

[00:34:52] She went from the mechanic shop with my dad and then she became a single mom

[00:34:57] with two kids

[00:34:59] And she prayed and she got the crazy

[00:35:03] Craziest ideas and answers come to her and she just she just went with it started with the antique shop

[00:35:09] And then the jewelry store, which was always a dream of hers

[00:35:13] But the way that it fell it's crazy because it was always a dream of hers and the opportunity just

[00:35:21] popped

[00:35:22] Up it just was so it was such an easy transition where she was where she had the

[00:35:28] Antique store. There was a jewelry store next door and she'd always look at it like

[00:35:34] A little not not an envy but wow

[00:35:37] They're so lucky that they have this jewelry store

[00:35:39] And they needed to get out of the jewelry store and they came to my mom with the conversation

[00:35:44] and a really great deal that she couldn't resist and

[00:35:49] even the the guys that that sold her

[00:35:53] The equipment to weigh the jewelry because we sold the jewelry by weight

[00:35:59] To angel she said they were angels. They just came in

[00:36:03] and they taught her how to use this equipment and

[00:36:07] It's weird how everything falls that should have been number one into place the power of the power of prayer

[00:36:14] I feel if yeah, everything we've done everything we've done

[00:36:17] I feel there was the power of prayer and now more than ever in this season of our lives we

[00:36:24] We really lay our lives

[00:36:27] And our children's lives into into a faith filled life

[00:36:31] We're we're there and we're fully committed. So

[00:36:34] If you guys don't believe in the power of prayer, just try it and see what happens

[00:36:39] That's it's it's everything now to us and I wish it was something I would have done more in my younger days

[00:36:45] I think it would have made my life so much easier

[00:36:47] But it's funny because I feel you were from a

[00:36:52] Faith filled family and as myself. I think I did my own version of prayer

[00:36:56] I mean, I prayed for sure. Oh, I always but it just wasn't as

[00:36:59] I feel like we you sometimes

[00:37:03] You go a little bit you stray a little bit

[00:37:07] But then you come home. Yeah, you know and

[00:37:10] And sometimes god's yanking on your on your sleeve saying come home come home

[00:37:16] And he'll have to do something

[00:37:18] Not that he has to but it's your journey and for my journey something really drastic happens something really like

[00:37:27] There is just no way to to not come home

[00:37:30] And I feel that that's the blessing in the journey and never guys

[00:37:34] If you have something hard come into your life

[00:37:36] Never look at it as a negative thing

[00:37:39] Look at it as a blessing because there's a reason for everything and and don't play it

[00:37:45] Don't be the victim be the victor because it's just

[00:37:51] It's so powerful. You are so lucky if you've had tragedy in your life

[00:37:56] I know it's hard to understand why when when we're going through it when we're going through

[00:38:02] The loss of someone or a very scary health

[00:38:07] struggle fight

[00:38:08] The warriors out there you'll understand the days that it's happening. You don't really understand

[00:38:15] But you sure

[00:38:17] Count your blessings and if you have that mindset everything just switches

[00:38:22] Of wow another day another day another day

[00:38:26] And even for small things. Yeah prayers good for small things and this is this might be a small thing

[00:38:31] But it's a big thing. I mean it's the life changing. It's your family

[00:38:35] And you have a lot of people depending on you and if you're thinking about quitting your job

[00:38:39] It's time to get down your knees and say prayer and I believe the answers will come to you
