[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know about that idea, but I'll tell them. Listen, I'm not sure I can tell you how to make that idea work because it might not be an idea that I would do personally.
[00:00:16] [SPEAKER_01]: But I would never tell you your idea is not going to work.
[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Uh... no.
[00:00:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Ooh, that's better right, babe?
[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah!
[00:00:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah!
[00:00:35] [SPEAKER_01]: She founded an architectural concrete company.
[00:00:38] [SPEAKER_03]: He founded a hundred million dollar clothing company.
[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_01]: She ticked the World By Storm as a social media star.
[00:00:45] [SPEAKER_03]: He ticked the World By Storm as a famous serial entrepreneur.
[00:00:48] [SPEAKER_01]: Together we started the business.
[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And had babies.
[00:00:51] [SPEAKER_01]: Now we're figuring out the best ways to do both.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Join us as we learn from other entrepreneurs going through this same business.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_01]: We've been doing the same life struggle as they share their life hacks about success, love, kids, and everything in between.
[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: If you have an idea that you genuinely think it's good, don't let someone talk you out of it.
[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Kulp by Stanley.
[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: The most effective way to do it is dust.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Do it. Kulp by Melia.
[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_00]: El Hulp.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to another great episode of The Pretty and Punk Podcast.
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm one of your host, Dan Kaldwell.
[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm here with my beautiful wife and my beautiful daughter, Ildico Furenzi.
[00:01:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Ildico Furenzi.
[00:01:35] [SPEAKER_01]: And Destiny.
[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And we have another great podcast for you guys today.
[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_01]: We just wanted to talk a little bit about,
[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_01]: we were having some conversations about somebody that I was talking to,
[00:01:47] [SPEAKER_01]: who always called, how do you say it?
[00:01:49] [SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh he says these ideas.
[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_01]: He has an idea.
[00:01:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I had a dollar for every time somebody walked up to me and said,
[00:01:55] [SPEAKER_01]: well I got this idea for, and you know what?
[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy hearing other people's ideas.
[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I really do.
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_01]: What I don't enjoy is hearing people's ideas
[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and then like hearing that same idea four years later when I'm talking to him again
[00:02:10] [SPEAKER_01]: and they haven't done anything about it.
[00:02:12] [SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we want to talk a little bit about
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_01]: is ideas without execution or basically useless.
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_01]: And they go nowhere.
[00:02:20] [SPEAKER_01]: So before we jump into that,
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_01]: hey guys, we hope you're enjoying today's episode
[00:02:25] [SPEAKER_01]: of the Pretty In Punk podcast and if you are
[00:02:27] [SPEAKER_01]: and you haven't already hit that like and subscribe button,
[00:02:30] [SPEAKER_01]: it just takes a second and it means so much to us
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_01]: because it really helps the podcast get out there.
[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_01]: To more listeners like you guys.
[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you know anybody, it might help
[00:02:39] [SPEAKER_01]: and you can send it to them, we really appreciate that too.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_03]: We also love and appreciate your reviews.
[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Even the babies look forward to them every day.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_03]: If you share this episode on social media today,
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: don't forget to tag us.
[00:02:53] [SPEAKER_03]: We want to celebrate you because we know it's not
[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: easy being a parent and business.
[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And the way that you juggle things makes you a superhero.
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: That's worth a shout out.
[00:03:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Together, we have a community of our personal followers as well
[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and we just want to put it out there.
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_03]: We want to show everybody that this juggle is possible
[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: and you are our family and we're so proud
[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_03]: and grateful to have you a part of this family.
[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_03]: So don't forget the Shalvin links are below in the show notes
[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_03]: and thank you again and let's get back to the show.
[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_03]: We all have those moments of inspiration
[00:03:31] [SPEAKER_03]: where ideas or flooding our minds,
[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_03]: but here's the hard truth.
[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: The ideas without the execution as you mentioned
[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_03]: are useless, completely useless.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And what's the point?
[00:03:46] [SPEAKER_01]: They go nowhere.
[00:03:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So let's dive into why taking action is crucial
[00:03:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and how you can turn your dreams
[00:03:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and passions of the things that you are called
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_03]: to do into reality.
[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean there's a study from the New York University
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_01]: from New York University about how if someone,
[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_01]: let's say I'm probably going to interpret this wrong,
[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_01]: but if someone writes down their ideas
[00:04:17] [SPEAKER_01]: or takes some action towards their ideas,
[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_01]: their twice as likely to complete them.
[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's,
[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I've never really had that problem
[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_01]: so I'm always, you know,
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_01]: and I get it though, you know,
[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_01]: it can be scary
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that you're going to put money towards something
[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_01]: that you're going to, people are going to,
[00:04:37] [SPEAKER_01]: and you know what, when I've always took
[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_01]: offense to someone saying that
[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_01]: you're scared to do something like,
[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_01]: oh, you know, people are scared to do something.
[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, people aren't scared,
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_01]: but you know what, it really is true.
[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_01]: When you stand back and you think about it,
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_01]: someone has this idea
[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're not scared of maybe losing
[00:05:03] [SPEAKER_01]: or they're not scared of maybe their
[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_01]: friend telling them, ah, see you, Mesta.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_01]: But maybe they're scared of like a family member
[00:05:12] [SPEAKER_01]: saying that, you know, I told you so
[00:05:16] [SPEAKER_01]: or they're scared of, you know,
[00:05:18] [SPEAKER_01]: because I think everything's that they're going to be scared
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_01]: of losing money and maybe that's not the thing
[00:05:23] [SPEAKER_01]: that we're actually worries them.
[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_01]: Or it could be,
[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_01]: It could be the thing that worries them.
[00:05:28] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're going to put,
[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_01]: they're maybe they have a family
[00:05:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and they're going to put their families on.
[00:05:32] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to put their families on.
[00:05:34] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to put their families on.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: They're going to put their families on.
[00:05:39] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're thinking about doing this new thing,
[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_03]: but if it doesn't work out,
[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_03]: it could wipe them clean and that's it.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, it's their last chance.
[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I could see the fear of that,
[00:05:51] [SPEAKER_03]: but I'd be,
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_03]: um,
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I just be so disappointed
[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_03]: if they are actually scared to do something
[00:06:02] [SPEAKER_03]: because they fear what other people would think.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_03]: That would be a side.
[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, but I think that's probably
[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_01]: most of the time the case.
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh.
[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_01]: And they don't think about it because
[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_01]: they may not consciously think that that's the reason.
[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_01]: But there's it.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_01]: there's something to when someone puts out
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_01]: to the world.
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah,
[00:06:25] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to start doing this.
[00:06:28] [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm spending time doing this
[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_01]: and immediately everybody's going to go,
[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_01]: oh, you're really going to try to do that?
[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, that's kind of hard to do.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_01]: Don't you think or don't you think,
[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_01]: what happens if you lose that money?
[00:06:40] [SPEAKER_01]: Is that going to be a lot of,
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_01]: it's like they already started on you.
[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_01]: And then if you are mentally tough,
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: yeah,
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_01]: if you are mentally tough to deal with that
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_01]: and the best of us,
[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
[00:06:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how good you are.
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: That can,
[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_01]: that can weigh on you a little bit.
[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that,
[00:07:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's a factor.
[00:07:02] [SPEAKER_01]: But I just don't understand why,
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:07:06] [SPEAKER_01]: if you're so excited about this idea.
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: You know,
[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_01]: the people that come to us and say,
[00:07:13] [SPEAKER_01]: I got this idea to,
[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to,
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking about opening this bar,
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking about,
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:07:20] [SPEAKER_01]: start my own record company or whatever it is.
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: You know,
[00:07:23] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm thinking about,
[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_01]: well,
[00:07:25] [SPEAKER_01]: think about how many people say,
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: hey,
[00:07:26] [SPEAKER_01]: I want to start a podcast.
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_01]: And you see those people,
[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_01]: you're late to later and they still don't
[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_01]: start a podcast.
[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's true.
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_01]: And but I mean,
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: to,
[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_01]: you know,
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_01]: we put up,
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_01]: start a podcast for a while too.
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know,
[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I did it.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I did it.
[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I did it.
[00:07:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we took a pause.
[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_03]: But that was just because
[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_03]: it's the two of us if it was just a podcast myself.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Like you went after some
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_03]: dreams and things like that,
[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_03]: which is great and I supported you.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_03]: But I just really wanted to do this podcast together as a family.
[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_03]: So, I thought,
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to go,
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: sorry,
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I have destiny in my lap and she's falling asleep.
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_03]: So, it's making it awkward to get into the mic.
[00:08:15] [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah,
[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't,
[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it's hard.
[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just hard to imagine that someone's not going to go through with something.
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just going to stop making those with.
[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, here we go.
[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's what I was trying to say.
[00:08:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, he's making these hand gestures and it's making me feel like this way.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, what am I,
[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you, why?
[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_03]: What do you say?
[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm making gestures without saying,
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_01]: turn the mic this way.
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: So,
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_01]: it's like,
[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_01]: I just,
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I just,
[00:08:47] [SPEAKER_01]: No,
[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I get it though.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_01]: I get it though.
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I just,
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that people have to get used to taking action.
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I,
[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_01]: I write all my things in my little notes here.
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Like I have a whole page for it.
[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I did that.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do some day.
[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, of course,
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: And always write them down.
[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like always have a book filled with ideas.
[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It's inspiration for that idea or something else.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But here's the studies.
[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is really interesting.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And this has to do with your new year's resolution
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_03]: that only 8% of people achieve their new year's resolutions.
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Why?
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Because having an idea is just the first step.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_03]: And execution is what makes it real.
[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_03]: So,
[00:09:35] [SPEAKER_03]: What you were tapping on,
[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the execution and going ahead with it.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_03]: So,
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_03]: According to the Harvard Business Review,
[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_03]: successful people are those who take consistent actionable steps to work.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I got hold on hold on.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I got a Harvard hold on.
[00:09:55] [SPEAKER_02]: It's your Harvard.
[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_01]: I got a Harvard one two year.
[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_01]: I got a Harvard one two.
[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, here it is.
[00:10:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So it just says basically,
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'll summarize it because it actually doesn't give numbers.
[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I hate what they do this.
[00:10:10] [SPEAKER_01]: They don't give you like 80% of people.
[00:10:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't give you a number,
[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_01]: but they basically says that people who take action on their ideas.
[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of a cool one.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_01]: People who take action on their ideas.
[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And this is something that people should listen to,
[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_01]: who aren't taking action.
[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_01]: People who take action on their ideas are more likely to succeed
[00:10:33] [SPEAKER_01]: overall in the future at some point in their life,
[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_01]: whether they have failure or not at that point.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_01]: So what it's basically saying is the study says that it emphasizes the action
[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_01]: even without immediate success or success at all at that point builds experience
[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_01]: and resilience.
[00:10:55] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have like, you know,
[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_01]: you think about the people who, I mean, how many people failed
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_01]: in their first few businesses?
[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I failed in my first business.
[00:11:03] [SPEAKER_01]: You failed in their first few businesses
[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_01]: and eventually found success.
[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_01]: So those people who at least try,
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_01]: who at least make the effort to start something and move forward on something
[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_01]: even if it fails that they're more likely to succeed overall
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of you.
[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_01]: And we always say this that you know,
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_01]: you're never going to fail if you don't quit.
[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_01]: So you may actually kind of,
[00:11:29] [SPEAKER_01]: your first business might not work out.
[00:11:31] [SPEAKER_01]: But eventually you're going to be a success.
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_03]: You're going to learn from all those things.
[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't like to call anything a failure or a mistake
[00:11:42] [SPEAKER_03]: because it is a lesson.
[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_03]: You're going to learn something from that.
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And there's nothing more valuable than a lesson
[00:11:50] [SPEAKER_03]: from some kind of life experience.
[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_03]: But here's another thing that I want to top up on what you were saying.
[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_03]: The best advice out there, the Bible,
[00:12:01] [SPEAKER_03]: has advice for everything, right?
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_03]: The best self-help of the world.
[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the Bible also emphasizes the importance of action.
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So James, to 12, sorry,
[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_03]: to 17 says in the same way faith by itself
[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_03]: if it is not accompanied by action is dead.
[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_03]: And this verse reminds us that belief and intention
[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_03]: must be paired with action to bring about change.
[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_01]: So there it is.
[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, and I love less browns example
[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_01]: of the richest place in the world is the cemetery.
[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_01]: It's not the diamond mines in Africa.
[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_01]: He says it's the cemetery because
[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_01]: it's where all those ideas have died
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_01]: without being executed, without moving for them.
[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_01]: So you have all these ideas, these people who don't move forward.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, think about it.
[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not only happy to be sitting next to something
[00:13:09] [SPEAKER_01]: and they said, I had, you know what?
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_01]: A friend of mine, a really good friend of mine, just said it yesterday.
[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, something they see something.
[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And then they go, I thought,
[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was literally yesterday.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yesterday.
[00:13:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to name him, but he's an actor.
[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_01]: He's played in a bunch of interviews.
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_01]: But he says, but you know, and I love the guy.
[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_01]: But he said to me, he says, every time I see this idea,
[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_01]: he says he used to work at a store, like a retail store.
[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_01]: And he worked there when he was a teenager.
[00:13:41] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said, he used to always do this thing with these bags.
[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_01]: He used to tie up these bags all the time in a way that you could
[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_01]: carry him.
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_01]: And then he thought, you know, it wouldn't be cool
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_01]: if somebody came up with an idea where you could
[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_01]: put this plastic thing and just stick it on both sides.
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_01]: It becomes like a handle.
[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_01]: And so that you could carry things that couldn't fit in the bags,
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_01]: like toilet paper and paper towels and those things that couldn't fit in the bags.
[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_01]: And then sure enough, when day he's in, like Wal-Mart or something,
[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_01]: and he sees this thing being slapped on paper towels
[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_01]: so that people have a handle to carry it.
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_01]: He's like 20 years ago.
[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought of this idea.
[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_01]: Could you imagine the guy that's probably making that little
[00:14:26] [SPEAKER_01]: licensee in fee or that little fee, you know,
[00:14:29] [SPEAKER_01]: for like the guy that made the shopping cart.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, like I wrote a book.
[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I said, I made the shopping cart.
[00:14:37] [SPEAKER_03]: That moment where you've thought of something,
[00:14:40] [SPEAKER_03]: but you didn't execute it.
[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, no, yeah, remember?
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_01]: Remember story stove?
[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh gosh, yeah.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_01]: I had this idea for, I just thought,
[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, when this would be cool.
[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of was playing with the idea,
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_01]: how, yeah, and now they can call it.
[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, somebody could, so years ago,
[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_01]: we're driving in the car, and I thought,
[00:15:02] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, wouldn't it be awesome to have this where our parents,
[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_01]: especially our parents, but our kids or us or anybody,
[00:15:09] [SPEAKER_01]: could call like having an audible way on our phones,
[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_01]: like an app where you could push the button,
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_01]: and it would ask you a question,
[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you'd push the button and answer the question verbally.
[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And it would ask all the right questions,
[00:15:22] [SPEAKER_01]: and then it would put all your answers together
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_01]: to kind of create a story.
[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_03]: And now I was trying to tell you,
[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I have this on an app,
[00:15:31] [SPEAKER_03]: and I've been doing it since the babies were babies.
[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it asks me all the time,
[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_01]: I thought there was a better way to do it
[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_01]: to create it into a book that they could actually put down.
[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, make sure you would tell them a book.
[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they'd been asking me questions recently.
[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_01]: And so I bought this.com storystove.com,
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_01]: and I thought, you know, like a stove,
[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_01]: like you're cooking it up,
[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_01]: and I thought, you know what?
[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just gonna buy this and put this together,
[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_01]: and put it on hold,
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and someday if I ever have time in my life
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_01]: to start a new company or you start up,
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_01]: then I'm gonna run with that one.
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_03]: But so what do you think is stopping?
[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Because it's, you weren't excited enough?
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it's getting.
[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I just had the other businesses.
[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't exactly.
[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: But I wasn't.
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_03]: It wasn't that bad.
[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_03]: He was judging you or even those things.
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_03]: You have other stuff going on.
[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I just had other businesses.
[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: You can't spread your forces.
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it's like,
[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_01]: we say, I remember somebody told me one time
[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_01]: that we were...
[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_03]: But there are some people that are running 87 businesses out there.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: No, but here's the thing.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_01]: Charles told me this one time,
[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I'll never forget this.
[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_01]: He said he was talking about when he was in the military,
[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_01]: he was in the Marines.
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_01]: He said that Charles was my ex-partner and passed away.
[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_01]: He said that one time he was told in,
[00:16:56] [SPEAKER_01]: in his training, he said that we would all be speaking German right now.
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_01]: Hitler wouldn't have spread his forces so so thin across the board.
[00:17:04] [SPEAKER_01]: So he was attacking on all these different fronts.
[00:17:07] [SPEAKER_01]: And he said, and he used that in an example of why we should concentrate on
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_01]: one thing that we were doing rather than try to do these 10 different things
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_01]: that we were thinking about starting.
[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just always remember that.
[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_01]: And I always thought, you know,
[00:17:21] [SPEAKER_01]: that applies to everything that we do.
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_01]: And if you want to be successful,
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm sure you've heard people say,
[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_01]: if you want to be successful,
[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_01]: you have to concentrate and put your time on one,
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_01]: put your time into one thing rather than try to do 10 different things at once.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, finish this thing first and then do something else.
[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_01]: And I just applied that same thing to this.
[00:17:42] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, is that if we want it right now,
[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_01]: we were doing a certain business and I believe
[00:17:47] [SPEAKER_01]: I think I was doing the kryptonite at the time.
[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_01]: And so we were building this knife company.
[00:17:53] [SPEAKER_01]: And I wanted to do that one thing,
[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_01]: get it done right before I went jumping on some other business
[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_01]: and then we started a different business.
[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_01]: You know, so but like it's still on my phone.
[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_01]: It's still in my notes and it's lined up,
[00:18:06] [SPEAKER_01]: you're not ready to go if I ever want to.
[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I have a lot of ideas too, but...
[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_01]: What's I give me an idea?
[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_01]: Give me an idea that you thought of one time that,
[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean...
[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it needs to...
[00:18:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Give me an idea that failed.
[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure you had a failed.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_01]: Did you have a failed business that didn't work out?
[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_01]: No, you pretty much...
[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_01]: No, I feel like I'm trying to be a business.
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_01]: You're completely, completely well-earned.
[00:18:28] [SPEAKER_01]: But you pivoted?
[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, pivoted.
[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm trying to get to,
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: because I shouldn't have stopped the concrete company when I did it.
[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It was at the most successful,
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: but I felt like...
[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And this is what I want to say.
[00:18:44] [SPEAKER_02]: Just ignore me.
[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think that's...
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: She...
[00:18:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I just like...
[00:18:51] [SPEAKER_03]: For me, I really listened to my heart and my prayers
[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and I feel like even the swimwear line
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_03]: I had to do a pivot.
[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Daniel was born,
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: and I knew...
[00:19:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe if I had a daughter first...
[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'll never forget the way you looked at me when I had a son.
[00:19:14] [SPEAKER_03]: It was like I was magic or something.
[00:19:16] [SPEAKER_03]: But when I...
[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_03]: If I would have had a daughter,
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_03]: yes, I probably would have gone
[00:19:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and...
[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Just kept going with the swimwear line.
[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_03]: We were getting on covers.
[00:19:28] [SPEAKER_03]: We were in Monning, Monning, Carlo,
[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_03]: French Riviera, Cons.
[00:19:34] [SPEAKER_03]: We had all these beautiful hotels asking me
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_03]: where the bikinis were from.
[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_03]: They wanted to have it in their boutique.
[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I knew I was onto something
[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_03]: when I would bring my swimwear to...
[00:19:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Shouts, girls would be asking me to shoot
[00:19:50] [SPEAKER_03]: in my swimwear because it was so flattering.
[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But having a son and then all of a sudden
[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_03]: understanding the responsibilities
[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and what goes into parenting,
[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I just knew it had to be a deeper thing.
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_03]: And then we came up with the billionaire...
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:20:10] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean that was...
[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_01]: I think we just wanted to be deep.
[00:20:14] [SPEAKER_01]: If it just felt like it was more deep.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it was educational.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I grew up with my mom
[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and she had several different businesses
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and my favorites.
[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, well, I kind of like...
[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I liked all her businesses,
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: but I liked the real estate.
[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I liked the jewelry store.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And I also love the antique shop
[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: because she had a lot of really interesting high-end pieces
[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_03]: and she set it up like a museum
[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_03]: where doctors and attorneys
[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and just all these successful people
[00:20:48] [SPEAKER_03]: would come and spend their lunch there
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_03]: looking for treasures.
[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: So when we started talking about that idea
[00:20:56] [SPEAKER_03]: of...
[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: because we had already collected these amazing documents
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_03]: and I mean,
[00:21:04] [SPEAKER_03]: who doesn't want to connect something
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_03]: that resonates with them?
[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: There's always something...
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Very important piece of...
[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_03]: We're selling history.
[00:21:16] [SPEAKER_03]: There's an important piece of history that you connect with
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and you and I were both nerdy about quotes
[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and then nobody's ever paired
[00:21:27] [SPEAKER_03]: having history with a quote that just lit a fire in you
[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_03]: when you are trying to build a business
[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_03]: or build my concrete company
[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_03]: even the swimwear line in acting.
[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I would post
[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: triggering quotes around the house
[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and now I feel like we do it with
[00:21:49] [SPEAKER_03]: the Bible verses too
[00:21:51] [SPEAKER_03]: but things that are a million times over
[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_03]: in my head by his stripes
[00:21:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I will be healed.
[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Those types of things now...
[00:21:59] [SPEAKER_01]: That's where there's a lot of people.
[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_01]: That's a deeper thing
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_01]: and sometimes you get into a business
[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_01]: when you feel like,
[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_01]: man, I'm not changing the world with this business.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
[00:22:09] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like I'm doing anything
[00:22:11] [SPEAKER_01]: to further myself or my family.
[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I'm just making money
[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_01]: and sometimes I'm not even doing that.
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I felt like with the company.
[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I was making lots of money.
[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I could have anything I wanted
[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and that was really good.
[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_01]: But that was actually made a lot of money.
[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt empty.
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt empty.
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I felt sad.
[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_01]: What did the beginning company feel like?
[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_01]: Because at that point you kind of pivoted
[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_01]: and said, I don't want to use anything.
[00:22:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved that too.
[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: But then I knew that it wasn't a real...
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I knew it was...
[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Now, I don't want to say luck
[00:22:47] [SPEAKER_03]: because I worked very hard with the connections
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_03]: and I worked very hard
[00:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: to get into the magazines.
[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was this very glamorous life
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: where, you know, we're hanging out with people
[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: that were billionaire.
[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but what made you stop it?
[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't want Daniel to step into this red carpet,
[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_03]: crazy movie scene with all these...
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't want to say that the women aren't real
[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: but I've never resorted to cosmetic surgery
[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_03]: but every...
[00:23:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I have to say every person I worked with.
[00:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It was just kind of fake world.
[00:23:26] [SPEAKER_03]: It was a world where it's so...
[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't feel right bringing the kids up in that...
[00:23:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Right, I don't want to think that this is normal
[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_03]: that everybody's driving a Lamborghini
[00:23:38] [SPEAKER_03]: and everybody's in the south of France.
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And I wanted him to understand
[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_03]: that even when you've made it,
[00:23:46] [SPEAKER_03]: even these men that are in the south of France
[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_03]: and hanging out with these models and stuff,
[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_03]: they did work hard
[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and maybe they didn't come from success
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_03]: the women sure fell into a place
[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_03]: where...
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: And it was hard for me to have the conversations
[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_03]: with a lot of those men.
[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_03]: There was a few women in the industry
[00:24:09] [SPEAKER_03]: that did work hard,
[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_03]: but there was a lot of women that just got to...
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And people might not like me for saying this
[00:24:17] [SPEAKER_03]: but they got into where they were
[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: because they were beautiful
[00:24:21] [SPEAKER_03]: and I wanted him to
[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_03]: understand hard work.
[00:24:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted him to be around
[00:24:29] [SPEAKER_03]: women of culture.
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_03]: The culture that I grew up in
[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: and I didn't...
[00:24:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I knew I was lucky to be in this life
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_03]: but I wanted him to understand
[00:24:42] [SPEAKER_03]: how to become resilient.
[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I wanted him to understand
[00:24:47] [SPEAKER_03]: the story like with the billionaire collection
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_03]: all these entrepreneurs, all these leaders,
[00:24:52] [SPEAKER_03]: all these documents that were signed
[00:24:54] [SPEAKER_03]: were from people
[00:24:56] [SPEAKER_03]: that worked so hard in life
[00:24:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and have a very interesting backstory
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_03]: of how either their parents struggled
[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_03]: or they struggled with the...
[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's because of their hard work
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_01]: we're talking about them right now.
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I think so.
[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_03]: You learn, even right now we have that exciting,
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: all these pieces
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_03]: and how excited is our whole
[00:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: you know,
[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: the people that are in this business
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_03]: because there's this new reality show
[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_03]: coming out.
[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not reality show.
[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a script film.
[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's a...
[00:25:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm tired.
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I've got destiny giving me a script film about...
[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a script film about...
[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_01]: or a series about...
[00:25:39] [SPEAKER_01]: It's a series, yeah.
[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_01]: About this robbery that happened...
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_03]: No, but that's not in the part that's excited.
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's about...
[00:25:46] [SPEAKER_03]: The contract that he signed
[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_03]: is the very fight.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: That's in the movie.
[00:25:52] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that...
[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_01]: I get that.
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_01]: I get that.
[00:25:57] [SPEAKER_03]: How hard did he work?
[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: And he had to say,
[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_03]: what did he say?
[00:26:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I am the best, right?
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_01]: I think a lot of people find
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_01]: something in their work
[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_01]: as they start to move forward
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: like...
[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_01]: Right, and then as...
[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Evolve, as they evolve...
[00:26:12] [SPEAKER_03]: As soon as I became a mother
[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: different things were important to me.
[00:26:17] [SPEAKER_03]: My idea of success
[00:26:19] [SPEAKER_03]: before having a baby
[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_03]: was different.
[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It was different.
[00:26:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And then success is different.
[00:26:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I don't...
[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't need to be around my Lamborghinis
[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_03]: and in a 50...
[00:26:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I would be happy
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_03]: within F-Rumes
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_03]: for just us, a smaller house
[00:26:41] [SPEAKER_03]: to be able to travel
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and there's so many of our celebrity friends
[00:26:47] [SPEAKER_03]: and multi-millionaire friends
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_03]: that are like,
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I downgraded my home
[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_03]: because I realized that
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_03]: it was so much work
[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: at all these people coming in
[00:26:57] [SPEAKER_03]: to clean it
[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and we decided to downgrade
[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: and do things ourselves
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and how amazing
[00:27:04] [SPEAKER_03]: it's once they became parents
[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_03]: and they realized
[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_03]: the true importance.
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_03]: What is truly important?
[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_03]: And even this podcast
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I knew that
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_03]: this was what we loved doing
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_03]: even if there was only one person.
[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_03]: If we could only change one person's life
[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_03]: or trigger something
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_03]: within them to think different
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_03]: or to come back to God
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_03]: or to learn about God
[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_03]: for the first time ever
[00:27:32] [SPEAKER_03]: through the miracles
[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_03]: that are experiencing in life
[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_03]: or through the hardship
[00:27:36] [SPEAKER_03]: that they're going through
[00:27:38] [SPEAKER_03]: to realize that
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_03]: it can't rain forever.
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_03]: The sun's going to shine again
[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_03]: no matter what you're going through
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_03]: because we've been through stuff.
[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_03]: You've been through stuff.
[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_03]: I've been through
[00:27:50] [SPEAKER_03]: serious stuff too
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_03]: you know, this the illness
[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_03]: diagnosis,
[00:27:55] [SPEAKER_03]: losing loved ones
[00:27:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and to have people
[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_03]: look at you and say,
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_03]: wow, like you've actually been through it.
[00:28:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, you've actually built a business
[00:28:08] [SPEAKER_03]: and tap out
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_03]: that's an incredible
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_03]: achievement
[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_03]: when it comes to business.
[00:28:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody knows what it is.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I think that these guys
[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_03]: doesn't go to your ego
[00:28:22] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like God gave you
[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_03]: that experience
[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_03]: to help other people
[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and also learning
[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_03]: from armistics that we made in life.
[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean something
[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_03]: happened in my life
[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_03]: to, you know, get me sick
[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and now I have this platform
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_03]: and I'm trying to tell people
[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_03]: listen, read your labels
[00:28:42] [SPEAKER_03]: what are you doing
[00:28:44] [SPEAKER_03]: in your life that can cause you
[00:28:46] [SPEAKER_03]: to be sick.
[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I know when they told me
[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_03]: the diagnosis
[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I knew things needed to change
[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_03]: and my life would never be the same again.
[00:28:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I haven't drank since then.
[00:28:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I won't put a pop
[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_03]: to my lips.
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_03]: There's things
[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_03]: that I won't do.
[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I won't even feed my kids
[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_03]: don't even know what a Dorito is
[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_03]: because it's open
[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_03]: to my eyes
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_03]: to a way where I'm
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_03]: understanding
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: wash your clothes
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: different, clean your house
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_03]: differently.
[00:29:17] [SPEAKER_03]: You have to eat different.
[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Everything is going
[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_03]: to change
[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's not about
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: things.
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_03]: It's a blessing.
[00:29:23] [SPEAKER_03]: And I can share those things
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_03]: with other people
[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_03]: if they have the mindset
[00:29:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and that what is it called
[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_03]: your, you know, when you're strong,
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_03]: not strong,
[00:29:30] [SPEAKER_03]: but I
[00:29:34] [SPEAKER_03]: feel like all those years
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_03]: that I went
[00:29:36] [SPEAKER_03]: to the gym
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: and I worked
[00:29:38] [SPEAKER_03]: out for hours
[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_03]: every single day
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_03]: and got mad
[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_03]: at myself
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_03]: if I
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I missed it
[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_03]: well, that was kind of toxic
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_03]: but
[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_03]: it was preparing me
[00:29:48] [SPEAKER_03]: for my healing journey
[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_03]: because
[00:29:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I could never have pop again.
[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I could never
[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_03]: have certain things
[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_03]: in my life again.
[00:29:58] [SPEAKER_03]: It was that mindset.
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_03]: there's everything in your life is setting you up.
[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_03]: But oh, there you go baby, baby, all done.
[00:30:07] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that, you know, that's why I think like you're talking right now
[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_01]: is that you have to be passionate about something to really stick to it.
[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_01]: It feels like, or you gotta find something in it.
[00:30:19] [SPEAKER_01]: I know like, you know Airbnb when they started their company,
[00:30:23] [SPEAKER_01]: the whole reason it's called Airbnb is because it was about renting out
[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_01]: air mattresses inside their house.
[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_01]: It was about allowing someone to sleep inside your house in your living room on an air
[00:30:36] [SPEAKER_01]: mattress, you know people who needed a place to stay and that's where the
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_01]: the name Airbnb comes from.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_01]: Er, better breakfast basically is what it was
[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_01]: is and I think that at some point they pivoted but they
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_01]: they found, they, they, they found like that they were helping the world by
[00:30:56] [SPEAKER_01]: giving them a place to stay when they wanted, when they didn't have a lot of money and
[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_01]: there wasn't a place to stay. They felt like they were changing a little piece of the
[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_01]: world just a little piece, you know, their corner of the world by helping people to
[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_01]: find how to place to stay. And even now today I just saw, have you seen that
[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_01]: ad where they're talking about staying inside a house and they said,
[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_01]: you know, you could either live but like imagine like they were showing a,
[00:31:24] [SPEAKER_01]: you could stay at a hotel where you're all staying in the same room and you can't,
[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_01]: you have to like go to bed at the same time your kids go to bed because they're basically
[00:31:33] [SPEAKER_01]: been in the hotel room together or you could have a little bit more fun on your vacation by
[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_01]: allowing if you if you got an Airbnb a whole house you could put the kids to bed early
[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_01]: and then you and your husband or your wife could celebrate together, you know by being downstairs
[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_01]: in the rest of the part of the house and kind of enjoy yourself for a few hours. You know so
[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_01]: they were saying they were saying like they're giving you a life, you know, and you're
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_01]: they're finding the bigger meaning in their businesses and sometimes that's just what you have
[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_01]: to do when you're starting a business you have to find a different I mean top out we're not
[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_01]: changing the world with top out it was we were changing the a little piece of the world when
[00:32:15] [SPEAKER_01]: we were helping fighters train because we were paying them a salary so that they could train
[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_01]: so that they could fight and change their life for their families you know, achieve their dreams.
[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_01]: We started we created this belief you know on all of our shirts or a lot of our shirts
[00:32:32] [SPEAKER_01]: because we want people to believe in something bigger than them and that's you know and that
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_01]: kind of resonated with people and it felt like we were changing just a little part of the world
[00:32:43] [SPEAKER_01]: when we would go help people help fighters to you know to be able to finance their their road to
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_01]: the UFC. Right and and so you know I think a lot of people if they don't find that they
[00:32:58] [SPEAKER_01]: may not take that first step they need to take because they're trying to find a bigger meaning
[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_01]: and if they can find a bigger they can put together a business or something that they want
[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_01]: to do where there's a bigger meaning they're more likely I think to take that first step.
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_01]: So what are some of the things that people can do to actually make sure that they
[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_01]: follow through with what they say that they're going to do. This big idea they have this big idea
[00:33:30] [SPEAKER_01]: because it's you know that's how it all starts and that they they talk about I got this big idea
[00:33:38] [SPEAKER_01]: how do they how do we not see this person four years later what do we tell them what do we
[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_01]: say to them next time so that four years from now and I'm sure I've said a few things to people but
[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_01]: and I'm sure you have to what is what do we tell them so that we don't talk them four years
[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_01]: later and they're still saying the same thing and they haven't done anything yet. Pray for the
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_03]: answers let's number one. That's a good one. I think that's what my I've always seen my mom do
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_03]: that and I think we do that. We pray for answers but I didn't so much before you know but I mean
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I prayed for help when I was like when I felt like I want to quit but I don't think I prayed
[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_03]: for answers when I want to start it. I feel like now you and I pray for help or now I pray for everything.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Lead us in the right direction surround us with the right people remove the wrong people.
[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that that's a number one for me. I know that that's not on a business tactical list
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_03]: like on the business tactical list it's set clear goals right that would probably be a number
[00:34:41] [SPEAKER_03]: one set clear goals define what you want to achieve and be specific and set measurable targets.
[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So that would be a number one and then a number two create a plan.
[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Have a breakdown of your goals into smaller manageable tasks and that makes the process that
[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_03]: you're going through less overwhelming and more achievable and as a number three as we were discussing
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_03]: you know earlier take immediate action. Let's start with one small step today and
[00:35:20] [SPEAKER_01]: keep going. Yeah well I think one of the first things you can do and I think we even did a podcast
[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_01]: on this a long time ago is just talking about whether we were tell people or not and I think
[00:35:28] [SPEAKER_01]: I always felt like when you start telling people what you're going to do.
[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah but I you know and this was our argument this was what our podcast remember that podcast
[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_01]: last year sometime but I think what the reason for me or the reason for them should be
[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_01]: is you start telling people around you what you're going to do and they start holding fine tell
[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_01]: people that are going to hold you accountable that are standing next to you that go hey do you start
[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_03]: that business you and it could be because of procrastination. A procrastination is the end of
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_03]: progress so maybe maybe secretly you know that you're going to procrastinate unless you hold
[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_03]: yourself accountable or have people to have you be accountable. Yeah that's how that's what
[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I tell them the list. So having seeking accountability. Yeah there's a certain amount of one
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_01]: of accountability. It's why they maybe get in a coach that's a good thing about a step on you know
[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like maybe a coach or because yes seeking accountability and sharing your goal with someone
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_03]: who can hold you accountable and this could be a family, a family member, a friend, a mentor,
[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_03]: a coach but I think if you're trying to avoid the people that could potentially talk you out of it
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_03]: then seek for someone that's achieved what you want to achieve and do it that way. Yeah because
[00:36:55] [SPEAKER_01]: if you find other successful people a successful person's never going to tell you know you know
[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_01]: they're going to tell you first of all I would never any people coming to me with ideas and
[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_01]: I sometimes I think they're you know like I don't know about that idea but I'll tell them listen
[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure I can tell you how to make that idea work because it might not be an idea that
[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_01]: I would do personally but I would never tell you your idea is not going to work because no no no no
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_01]: that's your dream on your heart yeah God I do put that in there and that's not a dream for me
[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't understand why you're going or how or how you're going to get it done but
[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_01]: God plays something in your heart so that you can get that done and if you feel like
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_01]: you know and that's why I suggest prayer because if you feel like that dream is for you
[00:37:51] [SPEAKER_01]: your supposed to accomplish that but one reason or another then yeah that's coming to you
[00:37:57] [SPEAKER_03]: you're going to figure it out and that's a crazy thing when you're on the right path
[00:38:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and there was just start opening and it's you understand how hard it is how risky it is
[00:38:12] [SPEAKER_03]: but the blessings are coming and you can't even deny it but then there's these times where
[00:38:20] [SPEAKER_03]: you really want something so bad and you feel like this is happening or that's happening the doors
[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_03]: are closing and I feel like when you look back on it you're like wow God was trying to bless me
[00:38:36] [SPEAKER_03]: because if I really would have got exactly what I wanted it would have been a bad thing
[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_01]: I know there's a person I was just talking about someone who's supposed to invest in tap out early
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_01]: on in the company and the day I was supposed to pick up the check from them to go and I was like
[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_01]: I was hemorrhaging bills all over the place and I thought I couldn't wait to get there because he's
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_01]: going to give me this $500,000 check and I'm like man this is going to take care of so many
[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_01]: problems and I get there and he tells me he has his attorney there to tell me that it's not going
[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_01]: to work and but what a blessing that I didn't give away a third of the company
[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_01]: for 500 grand because that would have been the worst mistake my life best best thing he ever did
[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_03]: it's all full on your end but then later looking back you realize that that was what he said
[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_03]: exactly so never never get lost in that because you're going to look back and you're going to
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_01]: understand yeah there's so many things along the way and that's one thing and I just point
[00:39:45] [SPEAKER_01]: that out to say that that's one thing but there's probably been 50 things yeah so 100 things
[00:39:51] [SPEAKER_03]: out of the things that you may think is bad great blessing great blessing that it didn't happen that
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_03]: and then staying consistent consistency is key make it a habit of working towards your goal every
[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_03]: single day even if it's just a little bit and then I think the last thing that I can come up with
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_03]: is you reflect in a just regularly review your progress and make necessary adjustments flexibility
[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_01]: is important for a long term success right yeah and I think it really it's just you got to get
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_01]: started you got to start and and and you can't quit like you just can't quit you will not fail
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_01]: if you don't quit so many people they go and they they do a few things like get the website
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_01]: and then they they maybe maybe even get the website started but then they just they get to the
[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_01]: part where they feel like they can't they're overwhelmed and they don't understand it and they quit
[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_03]: unless it gives you an idea to do something else like a pivot yeah but don't be wise but
[00:41:00] [SPEAKER_03]: shiny objects syndrome but as I said that's true that's true because if you're an entrepreneur
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_01]: at heart you're going to have shiny objects syndrome you're always going to see something else
[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_03]: you can do oh what if I did that or what if it's this as you and I we did pivot and I mean
[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like maybe it shouldn't be in the beginning but you're going to know in your heart
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_01]: ultimately if it is an I never stop a business if I don't if I don't see that this is
[00:41:33] [SPEAKER_01]: if I see if I really believe in that business I'm not going to stop you're not going to
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean I'm not going to pivot because I'm not going to stop in the first place no but you're
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_03]: going to understand it's going to be very clear I want to make it crystal clear that it's going
[00:41:51] [SPEAKER_03]: to be crystal clear of why your pivot exactly like it's not going to be confusing I mean it will
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_01]: be a hard decision it never gives stars when we started gives star I mean I knew that that
[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_01]: business wasn't going any further that business stopped itself because it wasn't going I mean
[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_01]: it's an amazing business oh my gosh if I could talk about it for an hour but it was a great
[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_01]: business and it was a great idea and a great business model but when it stopped it stopped and
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_01]: it wasn't going any further it was done and I knew it you know so there wasn't like revamping
[00:42:24] [SPEAKER_01]: up I was like that was a great run we did some amazing things I mean you know we filmed a
[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_01]: this you know a higher-dair and Paul from breaking bad to do the commercial for us and
[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean we did some amazing things trying to build that business and it just didn't work and
[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_01]: it's we stopped and it was done and it was an experience and I learned a lot from it but that's
[00:42:46] [SPEAKER_01]: it's not going to be a great thing yeah and that's what I feel like you're going to have it
[00:42:51] [SPEAKER_01]: you'll know crystal clear crystal clear not working it's not going anywhere yeah yeah okay so
[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_01]: well thank you guys for listening this episode of the Pretty In Punk podcast we hope you got
[00:43:04] [SPEAKER_01]: something from that from our mistakes our experiences the things that we go through there's so many
[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_01]: people come up to us and don't be afraid I know we said that we get all these people come up to us but
[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_01]: if you if we do talk to you about your if you come up with this idea you love hearing your
[00:43:21] [SPEAKER_01]: ideas you can hiss up on Instagram we love to hear about your idea and and we will hold you a
[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_01]: little bit accountable so um we here at once we better know some updates about that you're really
[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_01]: moving forward with this whatever this idea is if it's a good one if you really feel like
[00:43:38] [SPEAKER_01]: it's weighing on your heart that you were giving this this idea by God this dream by God
[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_01]: to this is your purpose right now to be doing that and go do that because I feel like there's
[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_01]: chapters in life yes yeah but you know you go through certain chapters in your life and you
[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_01]: are where you're supposed to be at that time yeah I feel like tap out I was supposed to be there
[00:44:00] [SPEAKER_01]: that time and then you know later on I was supposed to be somewhere else so and when I was a
[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_01]: police officer I was supposed to be there at that time and then and then I was supposed to be at tap
[00:44:10] [SPEAKER_01]: out and then I was supposed to be where I am now so you know those things I feel like you're going
[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_01]: to go through those transitions in life so don't be worried about that you need to figure out
[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_03]: is that where you're supposed to be right there at that at this time yeah and so because we have
[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_03]: one assignment in life but I feel like there are several assignments that come to you through life
[00:44:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and your heart knows because you know it just it just knows you just kind of feel it
