There's greatness inside all of us. But greatness doesn't happen. It takes boldness, courage, and leadership. Welcome to the Entrepreneur Kids Legacy Show. Where we think big, build boldly, and make amazing dreams.
[00:00:31] When things happen. I'm Destiny. I'm Daniel. We challenge you to step into your future, take action, and create a legacy that lasts. Let's go! Daniel, what would you do if you had an idea so big it felt like a gallery of outer space where rockets travel, but in imagination and creativity in the hearts of the world.
[00:01:12] families must require courage and persistence. And probably a lot of people saying that'll never work. Exactly! Good day! Back to the Entrepreneur Kids! Your creativity! You're talking about someone! Today's episode is about a storyteller who refused to give up. He didn't give up on an idea people doubted it again.
[00:02:26] Again and again and again! And because he continued building.
[00:02:31] The world's the world, still enjoy the story today! Before we begin, we want you to remember something important. Your ideas matter! Sometimes the smallest idea can go into something that impacts generations. And every time you listen to this show, you are building your own.
[00:03:01] Now, have you ever shared an idea and someone looked confused? Or perhaps they laughed? Or didn't understand what you were trying to create? That can be a discard thing. It sure can! But many extraordinary ideas look unusual in the beginning. Huh? Is that a hint? Is it story time, Daniel?
[00:03:27] Little sister? Little sister, start up the time machine, Destiny! We're about to rewind the clock! Hold on tight, legacy leaders! Three! Two!
[00:03:44] In a galaxy far, far away!
[00:04:05] Okay, fair point, little sister. On May 14th, 1944, a baby boy named George Lucas was born in Montecito, California. At first, he did not dream about movies at all. He dreamed about racing cars. But when he was a teenager, he was involved in a very serious accident. One that could have ended his life.
[00:04:35] That moment changed everything. Instead of only thinking about speed, he began thinking deeply about power. Reflection. That's an important word. Reflection means taking time to think deeply about your future, your purpose, your God-given destiny.
[00:05:01] Destiny! And what truly fascinated about storytelling and filmmaking. So, he went to study film at the University of Southern California. And here's something important, friends. He was not instantly successful. He faced rejection. People doubted his ideas.
[00:05:30] When he started creating the story, we now know a Star Wars... Star Wars! Star Wars! That's right. Many people thought it was too strange. Too unusual. Too complicated. Some people believed it would fail completely. That's wild!
[00:05:54] But he had very special quality. Daniel, teach them that powerful world we just talked about before the episode. Oh yeah. Tenacity. He sure had tenacity. Tenacity means continuing forward. Even when something feels difficult. Even when people doubt you. Even when success takes a long time.
[00:06:23] And here's something fascinating. When the team was creating sounds for the movie, they did not always use complicated machines. Sometimes they used ordinary, everyday sounds. And transformed them through creativity. One famous sound in particular, began with the humming sound of an old movie projector. And then, something unexpected happened.
[00:06:54] A microphone passed near the television set and picked up a strange buzzing sound from the TV signal. When those sounds were combined together. They helped create the famous sound of the lightsaber. Which proved something important.
[00:07:14] Creative people alone had to notice possibilities where other people see ordinary things. Yippity dappity! George Lucas continued building. He kept improving the story. He kept believing in the vision. And finally, on May 25th, 1977, something incredible happened.
[00:07:43] Da da da da da da! Released! Woohoo! And back with it.
[00:07:52] Parents, children, when they were children. Our dad and mama's big brother David both grew up loving Star Wars. And now our dad keeps trying to convince us to watch other movies too. That's legacy.
[00:08:21] And here's one of the most fascinating parts about the story. George Lucas made a business decision that many people did not understand at the time. Instead of focusing only on immediate success, he believed the story could continue to grow for generations.
[00:08:43] And he did something special. Very special. A good business move. Wait, no. A great business move. He worked to keep the rights connected to the toys, books, games, and merchandise. And that one thoughtful decision eventually helped create billions of dollars of value.
[00:09:14] And a vision! Yes, that brings us to another powerful word. Vision. Vision means being able to recognize possibility. Before everyone else can see it clearly, years later, the world began to understand just how valuable his imagination and persistence truly were.
[00:09:41] In 2012, he sold his company, Lucasfilm, for over $4 billion. But the most important lesson is not only about money. It's about believing in what you were building. Yeah! Meaningful enough to impact generations of families.
[00:10:09] George Lucas did not only build successful movies. He built a world we enjoy together today. A legacy! Yes, a legacy is something you build that continues impacting people far into the future. Something meaningful that lives on and brings people together.
[00:10:36] Imagine if George Lucas had given up just because people doubted his idea. Families across generations may never have shared this story together. That's why courage matters! And persistence! That was a great story, wasn't it friends? It sure is. You learn to build something.
[00:11:04] Think of one idea you have. A story? A business? A drawing? An invention? Then ask yourself, could this help someone? Could this bring joy? Could this become a part of my legacy? Oh, the Bible says, When the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it.
[00:11:33] For the vision is yet for an appointed time, But at the end it will speak, And it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it. Because it will surely come. It will not tarry. Habakkuk chapter 2, verses 2 through 3. That means when God places a vision or dream inside your heart,
[00:12:01] You should write it down, Believe in it, And continue building it faithfully, Even if it takes time. Because sometimes the greatest ideas are not built overnight. They grow little by little, Step by step, With faith, patience, and persistence. Oh, do you know what time it is friends?
[00:12:29] It's time for the Legacy Lightning Fun Facts Fan!
