How to Grow a Kind and Courageous Heart!

[00:00:00] Early one beautiful Sunday morning, the very first rays of sunshine stretched across a little garden. Tiny drops of morning dew sparkled like diamonds on each leaf. The birds welcomed the new day with happy songs. Everything felt peaceful and full of life.

[00:00:26] Little Lily the Lion hurried outside with the watering can almost as big as she was. Every morning before breakfast, she visited the tiny sunflower seed she planted weeks before. She always breastfed kind words to it. She watered it faithfully. She even thanked God for helping it grow.

[00:00:55] Today, she couldn't wait to see it again. As she skipped through the garden, she smiled so big! Her little sunflower had grown taller! Its bright green begun to open. Lily the Lion whispered.

[00:01:21] Then she noticed something she had not seen before! Growing all around her beautiful sun-

[00:01:41] Some were tiny! Some had already grown surprisingly tall! Wrapping itself tightly around the stem of her flower! She dropped to her knees and knelt right beside her sunflower. She looked at the flower, then at the weeds, then back again. Her little full head wrinkled with curiosity. Oh no! That's so strange! She whispered!

[00:02:11] I've been taking care of the sunflower so carefully! Just then, a beautiful butterfly floated gently through the morning air. It danced from flower to flower before softly landing on one bright yellow petal. For a moment, everything became wonderfully still. Almost as though the butterfly had stopped to listen too!

[00:02:38] A few moments later, Mama Lion quietly walked into the garden carrying a little basket. She smiled when she saw her daughter thinking so quietly! Mama Lion said, Mama Lion said, My precious girl, what are you discovering this morning? The little girl pointed towards the weeds! I don't understand! I've been watering my sunflower every day!

[00:03:07] So why did these weeds grow too? Mama Lion didn't answer right away. Instead, she knelt beside her sweet little daughter. She carefully reached into the garden and pulled one tiny weed from the soil. Then another. Then another. She never rushed. She never frowned. She simply smiled while she worked.

[00:03:36] The little girl watched carefully. She noticed something. Every time Mama Lion removed another weed, The sunflower seemed to stand a little taller. Its leaves had more room to stretch. Its roots had more space to breathe. Even the butterflies seemed happier. Mama Lion smiled. Mama Lion smiled.

[00:04:04] My darling girl, flowers aren't the only thing that grow. If we don't lovingly care for a garden, the weeds quietly grow too. The little girl became very quiet. She looked at the butterfly, then at the sunflower, then back at her mom. After a long, thoughtful pause, she softly asked, Mama, does that happen inside a house too?

[00:04:33] Mama Lion's eyes filled with tenderness. She gently placed her hand over her daughter's heart. It does, sweetheart. And that's one of the most important lessons a gardener, a future leader will ever have to learn.

[00:04:52] Friends, every one of us has a garden. Not just outside, but in our hearts. Every single day, something is growing there. You can do anything. We all have a God-given destiny. Never let negative thoughts or people tell you you can't be great. Because you were fearfully and wonderfully made.

[00:06:26] Character, growing buddy. Today's Legacy Short is about something every gardener, every parent, every parent, every parent. Listen, friends. Beautiful gardens don't happen by accident. They grow one loving choice. One faithful day. And when's the story, friends?

[00:06:56] Little Lily the lion looked back at her sunflower. Then at that tiny pile of weeds laying beside the garden. Finally, she asked, Mama, how do I make so the flowers keep growing safely? Mama lion said, That's a wonderful question, darling. Because every beautiful garden needs a gardener.

[00:07:21] A gardener doesn't only plant beautiful seeds. They lovingly care for what they've already planted. Friends, our hearts are a little like gardens. Every single day, something is growing. Not all at once. Just little by little. One choice. One thought. One word. Mama lion said,

[00:07:49] When we choose kindness, kindness grows. When we tell the truth, honesty grows. And when we forgive, peace begins to bloom. And here's another important thing. Very important. Listen carefully. When we spend time with God, our faith grows stronger.

[00:08:14] Little Lily the lion smiled. I love those flowers. Mama lion softly laughed. So do I. And every one of them begins as one tiny little seed. Friends, have you ever noticed how one kind choice often makes the next kind choice a little easier?

[00:08:37] Or how one thankful prayer helps you notice even more things to be thankful for? Our hearts grow in the direction we feed them. That's why wise leaders don't just ask, What do I feel like doing? They gently ask, What will help my garden grow? Will this help me become more loving? More joyful? More patient? More like Jesus!

[00:09:06] If the answer is yes, that's a beautiful seed to keep watering. Friends we listen to. Hint, hint. The songs we sing. The powerful words we speak. And the friends who encourage us to become more kind, more honest, more courageous. Are all...

[00:09:38] That's why we choose them wisely. I want to share something beautiful for a moment, friends. You're gonna like this. The Bible says in Proverbs chapter 4 verse 23, Above all else, God your heart for everything you do flows from it. Did you hear that? God doesn't ask us to guard our hearts because he wants to keep us from having fun.

[00:10:07] He wants us to guard our hearts because they are precious. It's where love grows. It's where... And those are beautiful things worth protecting. Now listen here. Imagine you're playing with friends. And someone begins making fun of another child. Oh no.

[00:10:33] For a moment, everything becomes very quiet inside your heart. Maybe you've felt that little nudge before. Something inside you whispers. That doesn't feel kind. Nobody dopity. Not kind at all. Sometimes God uses that gentle feeling to help us realize what's good. What's true.

[00:11:02] Yes, Destiny! A future leader doesn't have to follow the crowd. Sometimes they choose to sit beside the lonely child. Sometimes they invite someone to join the game. Yes! Sometimes they quietly tell a trusted grown-up when someone needs help. Bye, Destiny! Because protecting someone's heart is one of the kindest things we can do.

[00:11:33] Absolutely! And friends, if someone ever makes you feel confused, unsafe, or asks you to keep a secret from your parents, always tell a trusted grown-up who loves you. You'll never have to carry something heavy by yourself. Asking for help is one of the bravest choices a leader can make. Yes! That's right!

[00:12:00] And friends, did you know every time you practice kindness, gratitude, forgiveness, or telling the truth even when it's hard, a brain builds stronger pathways that make those choices easier next time. Yes! Little by little, good choices become good habits. And good habits build strong character.

[00:12:30] Okay, friends! Do you know what time it is? It's time for... Time to bring your brave thoughts.

[00:12:55] And if you don't know how to read... Today's journal question is... I want to grow in my heart this week. Maybe it's... Forgiveness... Joy... Wisdom...

[00:13:25] Encouragement... And a question to think about... Is there a little weed I want God's help pulling out this week? Maybe it's complaining... Giving up too quickly... It could be anything! Remember, God loves us and He's always ready to help us grow. Remember, friends, a beautiful garden... Doesn't become beautiful all in one day!

[00:13:55] It grows one loving choice... One truthful word... One thankful prayer... Call it at a time! Friends, every time you choose what is good, another flower begins to bloom. And one day... Other people will enjoy the beautiful garden God has been growing inside you! God willing, we're all gonna be parents someday! Leading our family!
